Site Director Of Operations

The Site Director is responsible for leading all aspects of the manufacturing and distribution center facilities operations, including production, maintenance, safety, quality assurance, supply chain, and human resources. This role is essential in driving operational efficiency, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.


The Site Director reports to the Regional Vice President, Customer Supply Chain and works closely with cross-functional departments to achieve business objectives.


Typical Accountabilities:


Operations Management:

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of the manufacturing and distribution center facilities to meet production goals, customer demand, and quality standards
  • Ensure optimal performance by managing production schedules, equipment maintenance, and resource allocation
  • Oversee inventory control, raw materials, and supply chain processes to optimize efficiency
  • Lead Sustainability goals for Plant/DC


Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop and implement operational strategies aligned with corporate objectives
  • Drive initiatives for continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, and cost reduction programs
  • Set performance targets and key performance indicators (KPIs) for production, quality, safety, and financial performance


Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations, fostering a culture of workplace safety
  • Implement risk management and emergency response protocols
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with both internal policies and external regulatory requirements


Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure that products meet or exceed quality standards and customer specifications
  • Work closely with the Quality Assurance department to implement corrective actions and process improvements
  • Drive root cause analysis and resolution of product defects or operational issues


Financial Management:

  • Manage the site’s operating budget, focusing on cost control, margin improvement, and resource efficiency
  • Monitor key financial metrics such as operating expenses, capital expenditures, and ROI on new investments
  • Support profitability goals through cost-saving initiatives and productivity enhancements


Team Leadership and Development:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team, fostering a culture of accountability, empowerment, and engagement
  • Implement workforce planning strategies, including talent acquisition, retention, and succession planning
  • Encourage employee training and development programs to enhance skills and productivity


Stakeholder Management:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact between corporate headquarters and the facility
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, regulatory agencies, and the local community
  • Collaborate with the corporate leadership team to ensure alignment with broader business strategies


Required qualifications/skills/experience:

  • Degree in Business / Engineering / Related Field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Masters or MBA preferred
  • Progressive experience in a manufacturing environment, with proven experience in a senior leadership role
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Proven leadership ability in managing large teams and complex operations
  • Excellent financial acumen, with experience in budget management and cost control
  • Ability to work under pressure, solve complex problems, and make critical decisions
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
