Director of PR and Events
Role Overview
We’re seeking a dynamic, strategic, and highly organized Director of PR and Events to lead the company’s public and investor relations, media outreach, and events strategy. This individual will be responsible for elevating brand visibility, public relations strategy, management of PR agency, while building meaningful relationships with media and key stakeholders, and executing best-in-class events that amplify our mission and impact.
The ideal candidate will have deep experience managing PR agencies, campaigns, handling media relations, brand storytelling, securing high-profile coverage, and producing events that engage a broad range of stakeholders, from industry professionals and investors to consumers and press.
Key Responsibilities
Public Relations & Media
- Develop and execute an integrated PR strategy aligned with brand and business goals.
- Manage and strength existing PR agency relationship, working to maintain strong relationships with key journalists, editors, influencers, and media outlets.
- Lead proactive and reactive media engagement, including crafting compelling pitches, press releases, data stories, news narratives, op-eds, and media briefings.
- Build investor relations and executive leadership strategies.
- Manage speaking engagements, awards submissions, and thought leadership placements for the company
- Work closely with Hyman Health, Director of Special Projects - Mark Hyman and the brand team to create strategy for Co-founder and Chief Medical Officer, Mark Hyman M.D.
- Monitor and report on media coverage and sentiment, tracking PR impact on brand awareness and reputation.
- Set a crisis comms strategy and oversee agency relationship to ensure the company is prepared for
Events Strategy & Execution
- Develop and oversee a strategic events calendar, including owned and sponsored events, product launches, health summits, media briefings, and community activations.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, product, medical, and partnerships teams to ensure events align with company priorities.
- Manage and oversee company Events Lead who owns event planning and production—from venue selection, programming, and logistics to guest lists, vendor coordination, and follow-up.
- Ensure events deliver a premium experience while reinforcing the company’s brand values and mission.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Lead and grow a team of PR and event professionals, freelancers, and agency partners.
- Serve as the primary internal and external point of contact for all PR and event initiatives.
- Manage budgets, timelines, and metrics for success.
- Partner closely with social, brand, content, and partnerships leads to deliver integrated campaigns.
Qualifications
- 8–10+ years of relevant experience in PR, communications, and event management. Proven success in securing high-impact media coverage and leading high-profile events.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in brand storytelling from a news narrative perspective.
- Strong network of media contacts in health, wellness, science, and tech verticals.
- Experience working in high-growth, mission-driven startups or consumer health brands is a major plus.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously.
- Ability to work flexibly in a fast-paced, ever-evolving environment.
