Title: Mine Manager

Position Summary:
The Mine Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating all aspects of mine operations, ensuring compliance with safety, health, and environmental policies as well as governmental regulations. This role strengthens the safety culture, drives operational excellence, and fosters collaboration across departments to optimize mine performance and asset reliability. The ideal candidate will build trust and respect at all levels, champion continuous improvement, and deliver results aligned with the company’s strategic vision.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with all safety, health, and environmental policies and governmental regulations.
- Strengthen the safety culture through reinforcing proactive safety behaviors, training programs, and safety procedures.
- Coordinate workplace inspections to identify conditions or practices that have the potential for loss. Immediately correct substandard conditions and practices to minimize employee accidents and property and environmental damage.
- Lead by example to ensure a collaborative approach to safety.
- Work closely with the Technical Services Manager regarding but not limited to: development, preparation of short and long-term mine and LOM plans, ventilation, mine surveying, mine geology, ore control, ground support, and geotechnical monitoring.
- Work closely with the Maintenance Manager regarding but not limited to: optimal fleet performance, equipment availability, maintenance systems, troubleshooting strategies, and the testing of various lubricants and other equipment service products to increase fixed and mobile equipment reliability, optimization, longevity, and efficiency.
- Work Closely with the Process Manager regarding but not limited to: communication of ore deliveries to portal bench, plan compliance, plan strategy, and grade performance.
- Meet or exceed budgeted development and operational tonnage and costs, and adhere to the mine department’s strategic plan for operations that optimizes results.
- Continually assess current and future mine mobile equipment needs.
- Leads the Mine Planning, Mine Design, and Mine Infrastructure Technical Studies during Front-End-Loading to establish an optimal, high-performance mining and mining systems approach
- Works with Geology and Technical Services groups to review minable reserves and resource estimates and to establish an approach to resource drilling that supports mine planning requirements and timelines
- Leads the process of Owner versus Contractor trade-off analyses for pre-production, development, and production mining
- Leads the development of operational plans for pre-production, development, and production mining, considering remote location, camp operation, and optimizing mine operating and turnaround schedule
- Leads the evaluation and selection of mining mobile equipment, including supporting rent, lease, or purchase analyses
- Reviews and has significant input on the Ground Control Management Plan
- Reviews and has significant input to mine layout, design, mining methods, and productivity bases, automation, mine backfill approaches, material handling/blending/stockpiling capital and operating costs in Front-End-Loading Studies, leading to and developing operational execution plans
- Supports and has significant input on the mining equipment fleet maintenance strategy and approach
- Review, assess, and coordinate the purchase of mine equipment, support parts, and capital inventories (e.g.: tires) with the Supply Chain and Accounting teams.
- Performs related duties as required.
Requirements:
- Ability to work safely and promote safe behavior in others.
- B.S. degree in mining engineering or related discipline, or equivalent years of applicable experience.
- Preferred: a minimum of 10 years progressive experience with at least 5 of those years in supervision.
- Possess strong communication, written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- A high level of competence in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint and experience with safety management systems.
- Accepts personal responsibility for the quality and timeliness of work product.
- Experience coordinating departmental activities, services, and schedules to ensure smooth and efficient operation of work.
- Proven team leadership qualities, including building the trust, respect, and confidence of coworkers and staff at all levels of the organization.
