Construction Scheduler
Job Description
We are looking for a skilled Construction Scheduler/Planner to join our team at the corporate headquarters. The Construction Scheduler/Planner will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and analyzing project schedules for construction projects in Civil, Earthworks, and Environmental sectors, supporting all company projects with most current work and upcoming opportunities at the Project. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in construction scheduling, expertise in Primavera P6, and a deep understanding of project timelines, resource allocation, crew rotation schedules, personnel transport plans, and critical path techniques across these specialized areas. The position requires occasional travel to project sites, such as the Project, to gather important project information and ensure accurate schedules. The Construction Scheduler/Planner will report directly to the Vice President of Operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed, fully cost-loaded project schedules for civil, earthworks, and environmental construction projects, incorporating tasks, milestones, resources, dependencies, and cost elements.
- Develop and maintain complex crew rotation schedules and a personnel transport plan for the Project to ensure efficient workforce management.
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and site conditions to create realistic timelines and identify potential scheduling conflicts.
- Travel to project sites as needed to collect data, assess progress, and collaborate with project teams to ensure schedule accuracy.
- Prepare and update project schedules, critical path analyses, progress reports, and cost performance metrics for project teams and clients.
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Engineering Managers, Superintendents, Estimators, and subcontractors to develop project schedules and ensure alignment with project goals.
- Monitor project progress, identify schedule and cost risks, and propose mitigation strategies to keep projects on track.
- Consistently analyze cost-loaded schedules to provide performance metrics and progress reports to clients as part of progress performance and cost management.
- Adhere to company standards and ensure compliance with industry regulations during the scheduling process.
- Maintain an organized and up-to-date database of scheduling data, historical project timelines, crew rotations, transport plans, and resource allocation records.
- Participate in project kickoff and progress meetings to provide schedule- and cost-related insights and support project planning.
Scope of Work
The Construction Scheduler/Planner will perform a variety of tasks critical to The Company’s projects, including:
- Schedule Development: Develop comprehensive, fully cost-loaded project schedules for civil construction, earthworks (such as excavation, grading, and embankment), and environmental reclamation projects, including crew rotation schedules and personnel transportation plans.
- Critical Path Analysis: Identify and monitor critical path activities to ensure timely project completion.
- Cost-Loaded Schedule Analysis: Perform consistent analysis of cost-loaded schedules to track cost performance and generate metrics for client reporting.
- Site Assessments: Conduct site visits to evaluate progress, resource availability, and site conditions impacting project timelines and costs.
- Schedule Updates: Regularly update schedules based on project progress, delays, or changes in scope, including adjustments to crew rotations, transport plans, and cost allocations.
- Resource Coordination: Coordinate with project teams to allocate labor, equipment, and materials effectively within schedules.
- Progress Tracking: Monitor and report on project progress and cost performance against planned schedules, identifying variances and recommending corrective actions.
- Risk Management: Identify potential schedule and cost risks, including crew or transport-related issues, and propose mitigation strategies to avoid delays and budget overruns.
- Project Collaboration: Work closely with Project Managers, Engineering Managers, Superintendents, Estimators, and subcontractors to align schedules and cost estimates with project goals and resource availability.
- Database Maintenance: Update and maintain a scheduling database with current timelines, crew rotations, transport plans, cost data, resource allocations, and historical project data.
- Quality Control: Ensure schedules and cost metrics meet project specifications, industry standards, and client expectations.
- Software Utilization: Use Primavera P6, the company’s primary scheduling software, alongside tools like Bluebeam and Microsoft Excel for schedule development, cost analysis, and reporting.
- Travel Support: Travel to project sites to gather critical data, verify progress, and support project planning.
- Documentation: Maintain organized records of schedules, crew rotations, transport plans, cost metrics, assumptions, and supporting documentation for future reference.
- Stakeholder Interaction: Assist in presenting schedules, crew rotation plans, cost performance metrics, and progress updates to clients or stakeholders during planning or review phases.

Ability to import/export and integrate P6 data with other project control platforms (e.g., cost management software, Excel, Power BI).

- Ability to translate complex schedule data into actionable insights and recommendations for senior leadership.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- A minimum of eight years of experience in construction scheduling, with a focus on civil, earthworks, and environmental projects.
- Proven experience as a scheduler/planner in civil construction or related industries, with a track record of delivering accurate and effective project schedules, including crew rotation and transport planning.
- Expertise in Primavera P6, the company’s primary scheduling software, along with proficiency in Bluebeam and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
- Strong understanding of civil construction techniques, earthworks processes, environmental reclamation methods, crew rotation scheduling, personnel transport planning, cost-loaded scheduling, and critical path methodologies.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse project teams and stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to project sites for data collection and progress assessments.
