Founding Engineer

Our client's product is the first AI meeting assistant for Investment Banking and Private Equity.

Bankers and investors are on 40+ hours of meetings a week, but are completely banned from using existing AI meeting assistants for security and compliance reasons. Our client's product solves this problem. It helps deal teams capture conversational data in real time, and turn it into clean, compliant notes that can be utilized for finance-specific meeting preparation, workflow automation, and system of record integration.

Our client is already working with - and in active conversations with - the world’s largest financial institutions, many of which no AI for Finance companies have yet been able to crack. The time is now: note-taking is one of the clearest and most compelling use cases for AI in the industry, and firms are actively seeking a compliant solution. Our client is backed by Afore and a group of operators and executives from leading technology companies.

Our client operates under the following fundamental pillars:

  • Finance is ripe for disruption. Despite its scale and sophistication, the industry is highly inefficient and valuable data is uncaptured and underutilized. Unlocking this represents one of the largest value creation opportunities in modern enterprise software
  • Finance needs vertical-specific solutions. The compliance posture, workflows, systems, and processes are unique, nuanced, and not something horizontal tools can adapt to
  • Attention to detail is critical. IB and PE are high stakes with no margin for error. Code must be intentional, reliable, accurate, and safe
  • Conversational data is a powerful data source. It can be the foundation for significant workflow automation and critical insights that can win and close deals
  • Speed wins, but only if you do not break core workflows. Reliability is the number one priority.
  • Small teams move fast by owning problems end to end and using the best tools available.

The role

As a Founding Engineer with our client, you will lead the evolution and scaling of our product. You’ll work directly with the founders, own foundational systems across desktop and backend, and set the quality bar for how we ship and iterate.

This is a full-stack desktop development role. You will prototype quickly, turn prototypes into durable features, and help build the engineering culture as the team grows.

What you will do

  • Build and ship features end to end, from idea to implementation to testing to release
  • Own core parts of the Windows desktop app and the backend services that power it
  • Build deep integrations with Microsoft 365 and CRMs used by finance teams
  • Establish foundations for quality and speed, including testing strategy, reliability, and secure development practices
  • Prototype fast with founders and customers, then harden what works
  • Mentor teammates, and help recruit and level up the engineering organization over time

What we are looking for

  • Experience: 1-2 years of engineering experience, ideally including Python, FastAPI, TypeScript, React, and Rust
  • Strong full stack engineering instincts and comfort owning product end to end
  • A proactive builder mindset with high agency, good judgment, and a bias toward shipping
  • Experience building AI-enabled products and using modern AI tooling day to day
  • Over-communicator who thrives in an in-person, fast-moving environment

Ideal qualifications

  • Rust experience
  • Strong TypeScript and React experience, with a high bar for UX and performance
  • Experience building desktop applications (Tauri, Electron, or similar)
  • Experience with SQLite, migrations, and local-first architectures
  • Prior experience in a fast-paced, early-stage startup environment

Why work with our client

  • Work directly with world-class founders
  • Partner with the world’s best early-stage investors
  • Build with and for the largest financial institutions in the world
  • Shape the product, culture, and technical direction of the company.
  • Competitive salary and meaningful equity compensation.
  • Benefits including meals provided daily in office.
  • Unlimited PTO.
  • In-person team in NYC with a collaborative, high energy environment.
  • We use the latest AI tools (Claude Code, Codex) to move faster without lowering the bar.
