Junior VDC Engineer (Structural Focus)

About the Opportunity

A well-established engineering and construction consulting firm is seeking a Junior VDC Engineer to join a long-term infrastructure project in Newark, NJ. This is a great opportunity for a detail-oriented CAD professional with structural engineering knowledge to contribute to large-scale public sector work in a stable and growing environment.

This position plays a key role in Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) efforts, supporting the development of structural detailing models and drawings using AutoCAD and Revit.

What You’ll Do

• Collaborate with senior engineers, architects, and project managers to produce high-quality structural detailing and construction documents.
• Use AutoCAD to draft and revise structural layouts, sections, and details per project requirements and codes.
• Assist in Revit modeling for structural systems as part of the overall VDC coordination process.
• Interpret construction drawings and specifications to support field coordination and clash detection reviews.
• Maintain accurate documentation, revisions, and file management throughout project lifecycles.
• Support coordination between architectural, structural, and MEP disciplines.
• Participate in VDC meetings and interface with stakeholders to clarify design intent and resolve design issues.

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field. (Structural focus preferred.)
• 1–3 years of relevant experience in drafting, design, or detailing within structural or AEC environments.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD is required.
• Experience with Revit is strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with construction drawings, building codes, and structural systems.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in design.
• Ability to work on-site in Newark, NJ as part of a collaborative engineering team.
• Candidates with prior internships or project experience in structural detailing are strongly encouraged to apply.

• Exposure to VDC coordination processes or 3D modeling tools.
