About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team and keep our fleet operating at peak performance. Our equipment lineup includes excavators, dozers, loaders, and graders from trusted brands such as CAT, Komatsu, and John Deere, ranging from model years 2000–2025. This position involves both preventive maintenance (70%) and breakdown repairs (30%), working in both field and shop settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy equipment including hydraulic, electrical, diesel, and mechanical systems.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.
- Troubleshoot complex issues using both mechanical and computerized diagnostic tools.
- Inspect and service engines, transmissions, undercarriage components, and attachments.
- Execute welding and fabrication work as needed for structural or component repairs.
- Maintain accurate service records, work orders, and parts documentation.
- Operate heavy equipment safely to conduct testing and verification after repairs.
- Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to prioritize equipment needs.
Qualifications
- Proven experience maintaining and repairing heavy construction equipment (excavators, dozers, loaders, graders, etc.).
- Strong technical expertise in hydraulics, electrical systems, diesel engines, transmissions, and undercarriage work.
- Ability to diagnose and repair both modern computerized and older mechanical systems.
- Welding and fabrication skills required; ability to safely use cutting and welding equipment.
- Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred.
- ASE or manufacturer certifications strongly preferred.
- Must be dependable, safety-conscious, and capable of working independently in outdoor environments.
