Job Purpose: The Plumbing Engineer / Designer will have overall responsibilities for the plumbing design on a project. The position will collaborate and direct other plumbing staff during the design and documentation of the plumbing system. The position will coordinate the plumbing design with all other disciplines so that the design is completely coordinated internally as well as with external clients.

Duties and Responsibilities: The primary duties and responsibilities of this position include the following:

• Prepare design documents appropriate for the project and in accordance with company standards

• Design of appropriate plumbing systems for the project including domestic water, sanitary, storm water and gas systems

• Documenting redmarks provided by the engineering staff on the project

• Performing appropriate calculations as directed by senior plumbing staff

• Knowledge of the state and local codes

• Coordination with other in-house disciplines as required

• Review and back-check work for complete and accurate documentation

• Monitor project status and development to meet project deadlines 

• Coordinate the completion of the documents in the appropriate time to have a QA/QC review completed prior to the deadline for the project

• Coordinate staffing manpower needs weekly with the Project Manager

• Review the plumbing budget hours and coordinate any recommended adjustments with the Project Manager

• Work with team plumbing staff to identify tasks and assign staffing to complete the plumbing design



Qualifications: The following qualifications are requirements of the position:

-PE or EIT preferred but not required

• Bachelor's or two-year technical degree or high school diploma (minimum) with relevant years of experience

• Two years of relevant MEP industry expertise (healthcare, education, commercial, federal, and light industrial)

• Ability to meet and socialize with clients to foster future repeat work

• Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit

• Able to work well and communicate with other disciplines within the firm as well as other consultants on the project

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

• Ability to work well with other plumbing staff to complete the plumbing design of the project and meet the project deadlines
