Cutting/Roll Marking Operator
2nd shift - $19.25/hour
Objectives:
• Operate in a safe manner in accordance to merit Brass safety policies and procedures.
• Produce and properly roll mark pipe nipples according to Merit Brass Quality Standards and goals.
• Complete setup and operate pipe cutters and roll marking equipment, as directed by the Supervisor.
• Support the Manufacturing operation by consistently meeting or exceeding the departments’ Efficiency and Productivity Goals
• Work as an effective team member to consistently achieve 98% serviceability on Pipe Nipples
Responsibilities
• Interpret information on cutting tickets.
• Verify material to be cut (Alloy, Schedule, and Diameter).
• Set-up cutter according to Cutting Ticket.
• Verify test piece for correct length and quality of cut.
• Set up manual and or auto roll marking equipment.
• Validate setup with Material Handler.
• Cut and roll mark pipe nipple according to cutting ticket. (amount, diameter, length, material, mill and heat number)
• Perform Quality Inspection (QI) and properly use QI form.
• Communicate any quality or machine problems to Material Handler or Supervisor.
• Place traveler ticket into every container.
• Enter information on Cutting Ticket and calculate new balance.
• Move material to product staging areas.
• Communicate to a Material Handler or Supervisor when cutting/roll marking job is completed.
• Perform preventive maintenance of cutters including: grease and oil fittings; refill hydro-checks
• Complete other duties as assigned to support the manufacturing operations.
Requirements:
• High school graduate, G.E.D., or equivalent.
• Ability to use and read a scale/ruler up to 1/32”.
• Excellent work habits including punctuality, attendance, and work ethic.
• Ability to work individually and with others to continuously improve our company.
• Standing, bending for entire shift. Capable of lifting 50-70 lbs. frequently, pushing and pulling bulky material and carts weighing up to 200 lbs., fine manipulation of hands for roll marking set up.
• Willingness and ability to work overtime when asked by a supervisor.
• Willing and able to continuously improve yourself, others, and the operations in a fast-paced, changing environment.
