Senior Metallurgist


Reporting directly to the Metallurgy Superintendent, the Senior Metallurgist will be involved with the Assay and Metallurgical Laboratory, short and long range metallurgical performance of the heap leach facilities, Merrill Crowe plant, refinery and crusher circuits. 


Responsibilities  

  • Initiate and manage laboratory metallurgical test work. 
  • Review and analyze metallurgical results from laboratory and operating data. 
  • Optimize leach pad loading schedules and ensure efficient operation. 
  • Assist management in setting achievable short and long term heap leach production targets. 
  • Participate in site engineering design and functions as needed. 
  • Able to identify operational deficiencies and provide engineered and/or technical solutions to improve production. 
  • Plan, coordinate and implement research and engineering projects. 
  • Clearly define and document project requirements, project schedules, resource, cost estimates, plans, and targets. 
  • Create an atmosphere in which timely and high quality information flows smoothly between oneself and others; encourage the open expression of ideas and opinions. 
  • Communicate technical concepts and information in non-technical, more easily understandable terms while conveying information clearly and effectively through both formal and informal documentation. 
  • Perform all work in a safe and healthful manner with company’s safety and environmental policies and procedures. 


Qualifications  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Metallurgical engineering or related field.
  • Approximately 5-7 years of related experience.
  • Advanced computer skills in MS Word, Excel and database software. 
  • Prior processing experience working within precious metals. 
  • Practical and applied experience with heap leach, Merrill Crowe, refinery and crushing operations.
