Purpose & Scope of The Position: 

As a key member of the Mine Site’s Environmental Resources Department, the Superintendent of Environmental Resources is responsible for coordinating and overseeing all permitting and compliance activities. This includes monitoring, reporting, and ensuring adherence to environmental regulations and company policies.


Job Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Establish and execute compliance strategies to ensure timely submission of reports and regulatory correspondence.
  • Develop and manage permitting strategies to support operational needs, including preparing permit applications and required documentation.
  • Collaborate with state and federal regulatory agencies to ensure compliance and maintain strong professional relationships.
  • Represent the company’s interests during agency inspections, technical meetings, and discussions with stakeholder groups.
  • Engage in local/community affairs, initiatives, and environmental projects.
  • Mentor and develop environmental staff while providing environmental awareness training to mine operations personnel.
  • Establish and maintain environmental sampling routines, reporting protocols, and quality assurance/quality control procedures to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct site inspections and reviews to monitor compliance, identifying and addressing potential issues proactively.


Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Hydrology, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Range Management, or a closely related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in mining or a related industry, with a strong background in environmental permitting and compliance.
  • Licenses: Valid driver’s license.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Hydrology, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Range Management, or a related field.


Technical Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information effectively.
  • Experience in preparing and delivering presentations to regulatory agencies, local governments, and stakeholder groups.
  • In-depth knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance programs.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate environmental staff, contractors, and consultants to ensure cost-effective compliance with environmental regulations and schedules.


Additional Requirements:

  • Successful completion of a pre-employment physical, including drug and alcohol testing.
  • Ability to meet the required physical demands, exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly.
