Job Title: Laboratory Quality Technician

Location: Tewkesbury

Contract Type: Temp to Perm

Contract Length: 12 weeks

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Rate: £14.54 per hour


A well-established and growing food production business is looking to recruit a Laboratory Technician to join its technical quality team. This position offers a great opportunity for someone interested in food science, microbiology, or laboratory testing who wants to gain practical experience within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.


This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a structured laboratory environment, takes pride in accuracy, and wants to develop their skills within the food and dairy sector. Full training will be provided, making it suitable for both early-career candidates and those with previous lab experience.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the sampling and testing of food products to support quality control procedures.
  • Carry out microbiological analysis, including interpreting results and identifying any irregularities.
  • Perform testing related to antibiotic detection and product shelf life.
  • Work closely with the Laboratory Manager and team to ensure all testing complies with company policies and industry regulations.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe laboratory environment at all times.
  • Support the technical department in maintaining high standards across production.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Excellent attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and consistency.
  • Reliable with strong time management and punctuality.
  • Positive attitude with a proactive and motivated approach to work.
  • Ability to work flexibly across shifts and meet deadlines.
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.

Desirable

  • Previous experience working in a laboratory environment.
  • Familiarity with food manufacturing or the dairy industry.
  • Understanding of food hygiene standards and laboratory procedures.
  • Qualifications in Biological Sciences (GCSE or A-Level) such as Biology or Chemistry.

Notes

  • Days: Monday–Sunday on a 5-day rotating basis
  • Due to food hygiene regulations, only one solid wedding band may be worn.
  • Shift times: Weekdays rotating between 05:30, 06:00, 07:00 & 12:00; Saturday 08:00; Sunday 06:00
