About Radix Health

Radix Health is on a mission to make healthcare reimbursement fairer, faster, and more transparent for providers. We help physicians—like ER doctors and specialists—get paid what they’re owed while keeping patients out of surprise billing limbo. We leverage the No Surprises Act's Independent Dispute Resolution (IDR) process to quickly and efficiently boost out-of-network reimbursement for providers at scale. In short, we work with the NSA—but the IDR process, not the government agency 😉

As a growing Series A startup backed by Bessemer Venture Partners, we’re moving quickly and building the engineering foundation that will scale with us. If you’re excited by ownership, impact, clean architecture, and solving real problems for real clinicians, you’ll fit right in.

The Role

We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer who blends strong execution with thoughtful engineering judgment. In this role, you’ll take on complex features, elevate technical quality, and help bring clarity to ambiguous spaces—while collaborating closely with our Lead Engineers on system-level direction.

You enjoy partnering with product, operations, and frontend engineering to bring ideas to life end-to-end. You’re someone who asks good questions, understands tradeoffs, and can guide work from concept to delivery without losing sight of impact or reliability. You lead through influence, mentorship, and consistency—not ego or territorial ownership.

If you thrive in early-stage environments, care about solving real problems, and enjoy improving how a team builds software together, you’ll love it here.

What You’ll Do

  • Ownership: Drive substantial features and projects from design through implementation, partnering with Leads on architecture while owning execution and delivery.
  • Technical Leadership: Improve patterns, code quality, and reliability; help the team make sound technical decisions by contributing clear reasoning and pragmatic ideas.
  • Momentum: Maintain strong execution velocity across complex work, balancing speed/ fast iterations with long-term maintainability.
  • Impact: Deliver solutions that meaningfully improve internal workflows and customer outcomes, with a focus on scalability and clarity.
  • Innovation: Identify opportunities to simplify, streamline, or modernize our systems—bringing forward new ideas and improvements that strengthen the platform.
  • Collaboration: Work closely and humbly with teammates across engineering, product, ops, and leadership; communicate clearly and help cultivate shared understanding.
  • Mentorship: Support engineering team through thoughtful feedback, collaboration, and shared problem-solving—helping level up the team while learning alongside them.
  • Transparency: Surface risks early, communicate decisions openly, and ask clarifying questions to drive alignment.
  • Culture: Contribute to a positive, low-ego, engineering-driven culture rooted in curiosity, respect, and continuous improvement.

Who You Are

  • 5+ years of experience building backend or service-oriented systems.
  • Strong command of an OO backend language (Python, Go, Java, etc.); no prior Python experience required (tho a +).
  • Strong software fundamentals, design patterns, and API development.
  • Experience with relational databases (we use PostgreSQL).
  • Comfortable contributing to architectural conversations—even if you’re not the final decision-maker yet.
  • Skilled at navigating ambiguity and breaking down complex, open-ended problems.
  • Experience mentoring or guiding mid-level engineers.
  • Comfortable with cloud platforms (AWS or GCP), CI/CD pipelines, and modern development workflows.
  • Low-ego collaborator who values clarity, practicality, and shared ownership.

Extra Credit Experience

  • Background in FinTech, Payments, or other regulated or high-scale/ throughput systems.
  • Professional Python experience in production systems.
  • Experience in early-stage or growth-stage startups.
  • Exposure to distributed systems or performance optimization.

Why You’ll Love Working Here

  • High impact, real ownership: Your work will directly shape how healthcare providers get reimbursed and how our platform scales.
  • Balancing speed with intention: We move quickly, collaborate deeply, and optimize for practical, high-quality solutions.
  • Room to grow: We’re early, which means you’ll have opportunities to expand your architectural influence, take on technical leadership, and shape engineering practices as the company scales.
  • Meaningful problems, modern tools: You’ll work with a team that values thoughtful engineering and invests in building things the right way.
  • Competitive compensation & equity: Join a well-funded Series A startup where your work really matters.
