Orthodontic Wire Bender – Calgary, Alberta

Position Overview

A full-service dental laboratory in Calgary is seeking an experienced Orthodontic Wire Bender to support the fabrication of high-quality orthodontic appliances. This role focuses on bending, shaping, and finishing wire components used in retainers, expanders, space maintainers, and other specialty devices. The ideal candidate is precise, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced lab environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Bend and shape orthodontic wires using specialized orthodontic pliers and hand tools
  • Interpret prescriptions, appliance designs, and specifications provided by orthodontists
  • Fabricate wire components for a variety of appliances, including retainers, expanders, and space maintainers
  • Trim, polish, and finish wire frameworks to ensure accurate fit and high-quality results
  • Maintain case documentation, material logs, and production records
  • Work collaboratively with technicians and support staff to meet production timelines
  • Adhere to all safety, hygiene, and laboratory quality protocols

Qualifications

  • Experience in orthodontic wire bending and/or dental laboratory work preferred
  • Strong manual dexterity with a high level of precision and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of orthodontic materials, including NiTi and Beta Titanium wires
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow dental prescriptions and appliance designs
  • Proficiency with standard orthodontic pliers, cutters, and related tools
  • Effective communication and ability to work well within a team environment
