General Counsel

Location: Fort Wayne, IN (Hybrid: Primarily On-Site with 1–2 Flex Days/Week)

Travel: 5–10% to DFW or other partner locations as needed

Compensation: $220,000 – $273,000 base salary + executive-level bonus


Establish and Lead the Legal Function at a High-Growth, Private Company

We are seeking a strategic legal leader to serve as the company’s first in-house General Counsel. This is a highly visible role that will build and oversee the organization’s legal infrastructure from the ground up. The GC will act as a key advisor to the executive team, centralize external counsel relationships, and shape the company’s legal, risk, and compliance strategies.

What You Bring

  • JD and active license to practice law in Indiana
  • 10+ years of legal experience with a strong corporate generalist background
  • Experience in contracts, litigation, insurance, and risk management
  • Prior leadership experience and ability to advise cross-functional teams

What You’ll Do

  • Lead all corporate legal matters and advise the executive leadership team
  • Build a centralized legal strategy and matter management system
  • Review and manage contracts, litigation, claims, customer bankruptcies, and fraud cases
  • Manage relationships with all external legal counsel
  • Provide legal support across departments including sales, marketing, credit & collections, and field service
  • Oversee insurance-related issues and manage risk and claims processes
  • Supervise the Risk Coordinator (initially transitioned from Finance)
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with ~20 Directors and VPs across the company
