Are you a strategic financial leader with a passion for mission-driven work? Ready to apply your budgeting expertise in a role that blends autonomy, innovation, and community impact? Our client—a respected institution of higher education—is seeking a forward-thinking Budget Director to provide clarity, structure, and strategic insight in support of its academic mission and operational momentum.

This is more than a numbers role. It’s a chance to shape financial strategy on a welcoming, close-knit campus in rural Nebraska—where collaboration thrives, ideas are valued, and your work directly influences students, leadership, and the broader college community.

What You’ll Tackle:

·        Partner with senior leadership to guide college-wide budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.

·        Lead the development and stewardship of annual budgets, long-term financial projections, and grant-related reporting.

·        Reestablish and facilitate regular budget manager meetings to ensure consistency, transparency, and engagement across departments.

·        Enhance budget reconciliation and reporting practices to support clarity and accountability.

·        Collaborate cross-functionally to elevate financial decision-making and resource alignment.

·        Support payroll verification, audit preparation, and select monthly journal entries.

·        Contribute to special initiatives aimed at strengthening operational excellence and financial stewardship.

What Will Help You Succeed:

·        Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or a related field (required).

·        Demonstrated experience in budgeting, reporting, and financial analysis.

·        Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with the broader Microsoft Office suite.

·        Full-time on-campus availability, with flexibility for creative scheduling (e.g., 4x9s with half-day Fridays).

·        Exceptional attention to detail, clear communication skills, and a self-directed work style.

·        Ability to communicate complex financial data to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Bonus Points For:

·        MBA or experience with SAP.

·        Background in education funding, government, or higher education finance.

·        Familiarity with fund accounting and grant budget management.

·        Comfort navigating cross-departmental relationships and financial reporting systems.

Why You’ll Want to Be Here:

·        Opportunity to lead the modernization of budget operations across a multi-campus system.

·        Join a collaborative, mission-driven environment with supportive leadership and a strong sense of community.

·        Outstanding benefits package, including premier health coverage, a generous retirement match, and tuition discounts through affiliated colleges.

·        Make a meaningful difference—your work will support student achievement, institutional sustainability, and educational access.

If you're ready to step into a high-impact role where your financial leadership truly matters, we’d love to hear from you. This position offers the chance to contribute not just to balanced budgets—but to lives changed through education.
