Position Overview:
The Bookkeeper will manage the day-to-day accounting operations, including maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and ensuring timely reporting. The position will support the transition of bookkeeping functions from an external accounting firm to an in-house function to improve timeliness, visibility, and control over financial information. The Bookkeeper will take a hands-on approach to transactional accounting and will manage a high volume of activity using QuickBooks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and manage books using QuickBooks.
- Perform daily data entry and ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded.
- Handle full cycle Accounts Payable, including invoice entry, payment processing, and vendor communication.
- Manage Accounts Receivable, including invoicing customers, tracking receivables, and following up on outstanding balances.
- Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
- Prepare and file sales tax for NY, NJ, and PA.
- Maintain organized financial records and supporting documentation.
- Assist with month-end close by preparing reconciliations and reports as needed.
- Coordinate with external accountants for year-end reporting and tax preparation.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and keep financial information current and accurate.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience.
- Strong experience working in QuickBooks.
- Experience processing sales tax filings for multiple states, specifically NY, NJ, and PA, preferred.
- Solid understanding of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and bank reconciliations.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general accounting systems.
Salary Range: $50k - $60k
