The Staff Accountant will be responsible for supporting general accounting functions, maintaining financial records, and ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting principles. This role involves reconciling accounts, assisting with financial reporting, and contributing to month-end close processes. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in accounting, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately.
- Assist in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
- Reconcile bank statements, credit card accounts, and general ledger accounts.
- Maintain and update financial records and reports in accordance with GAAP.
- Assist with accounts payable (A/P) and accounts receivable (A/R) functions, including invoice processing and collections.
- Support the preparation of financial statements and management reports.
- Assist with audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency.
- Perform other accounting and finance-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience: 2-3 years of accounting experience (internships or relevant experience in a corporate or public accounting setting preferred).
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, or similar ERP systems.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
- CPA or CPA track is a plus but not required.
