H9 Talent Solutions are currently looking to recruit a Contracts Manager to join a major IPP in Reno, Nevada on a permanent, full-time basis.
This is a site-based role (some flexible working available), with an excellent salary and benefits package on offer for the right candidate.
Role Overview
The Contracts Manager will oversee the full lifecycle of commercial contracts for a large independent power producer, particularly focusing on renewable energy projects (e.g., solar, wind, energy storage). This role ensures robust contract negotiation, risk management, compliance, and administration across project development, construction, and operations phases. The Contracts Manager will partner closely with legal, development, finance, procurement, and asset management teams.
Key Responsibilities
Contract Negotiation & Drafting
- Negotiate and draft a variety of contracts, including Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), EPC contracts, O&M contracts, interconnection agreements, supply contracts, and land use agreements.
- Manage risk allocation in contracts, ensuring terms appropriately reflect project risk, performance guarantees, milestones, and penalties.
Contract Risk Assessment & Management
- Assess contractual risk, develop mitigation strategies, and maintain a risk register.
- Perform regular contract reviews, update clauses, and track key contractual obligations and milestones.
Contract Administration & Lifecycle Management
- Oversee the lifecycle of contracts from execution to close-out.
- Manage contract amendments, change orders, notices and claims.
- Ensure compliance with contract terms and partner obligations, reviewing performance, deliverables, and financials.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Serve as primary liaison with counterparties (e.g., EPC contractors, off-takers, suppliers, landowners).
- Coordinate with internal legal, finance, development, and operations teams to align contractual terms and drive decisions.
Compliance & Governance
- Ensure contractual documentation adheres to applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
- Work with legal counsel to resolve disputes, negotiate settlements, and manage claims.
Reporting & Documentation
- Maintain a structured repository of contracts, correspondence, and clauses.
- Provide regular reporting on contract status, outstanding risks,
Training & Support
- Provide guidance and training to project teams on contractual best practices.
- Mentor junior contract specialists or managers, building contracting capability within the organization.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in law, Business, Engineering, or a relevant discipline.

7+ years of experience in contract management, ideally in the energy sector (IPP, developer, or EPC).
- Deep knowledge of renewable energy contracts: PPAs, EPC, O&M, interconnection, etc.
- Strong negotiation skills and experience managing high-value and complex contracts.
- Excellent risk management and commercial judgment.
- Proven ability to administer contracts through development, construction, and operations.
- Strong stakeholder management: able to work cross-functionally (legal, finance, operations, development).
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Attention to detail, but with the ability to think strategically.
- Proficiency in contract management systems, Microsoft Office, and contract-lifecycle tools.

Salary- US$120,000 – US$160,000 per annum
