Project Planner – Solar Farm

Overview
H9 Talent Solutions are recruiting for an experienced Project Planner to support the delivery of a major solar farm development in the Midlands. This is a contract role, ideal for an experienced planner with a background in renewable energy, construction, or infrastructure projects.
You will take ownership of developing, monitoring, and maintaining the project programme, working closely with engineering, construction, procurement, and project management teams to ensure the project stays on track throughout all stages.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and update detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 or MS Project.
- Work with multidisciplinary teams to gather progress data, ensuring an accurate and up-to-date programme.
- Identify the project’s critical path, constraints, risks, and schedule opportunities.
- Produce progress reports, dashboards, look-ahead schedules, and time-related forecasts.
- Monitor construction, engineering, and procurement sequences, ensuring alignment with project timelines.
- Assist with planning of site activities including civils, electrical installation, commissioning, and energisation.
- Support schedule optimisation to improve efficiency and mitigate delays.
- Liaise with contractors, suppliers, and internal teams to coordinate schedule updates and reporting.
- Ensure planning activities align with project controls, governance, and best practice.
- Contribute to risk workshops, scenario planning, and project delivery reviews.
Experience & Skills Required
- Proven experience as a Project Planner / Planning Engineer within renewables, construction, utilities, or infrastructure.
- Solar farm or BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems) experience is highly advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of Primavera P6 or MS Project.
- Experience working with EPC contractors, civils teams, or grid-connected energy projects.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret technical and engineering data.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage a varied workload in a fast-paced project environment.
