Senior Consultant – Process Engineering
Location: Greater Manchester (with travel across the UK, Ireland, and occasionally the EU)

Our client is a highly respected, international technical consultancy with over 30 years of proven success in delivering energy infrastructure projects across the UK and Ireland. With a strong reputation in supporting the energy transition, they work at the forefront of some of the most innovative and large-scale energy projects in the market today.
Due to continued growth, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Senior Consultant (Process Engineering) to join their office. This is a fantastic opportunity for a process engineering professional seeking to advance their career in a consultancy environment, working on projects that directly impact the future of energy.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and contribute to process design activities including concept development, pre-FEED, FEED studies, and detailed process design.
- Carry out process simulations using tools such as HYSYS, Aspen Plus, OGT Protreat or similar.
- Prepare, review, and approve technical process documentation including PFDs, P&IDs, mass balances, design bases, calculations, data sheets, and cause & effect charts.
- Provide technical input on equipment selection, process layout, and plant design in line with industry standards and best practice.
- Deliver high-quality consultancy services to clients in industries such as oil & gas, chemicals, and industrial gases.
- Advise on emerging technologies such as CO₂ capture and storage, hydrogen/amine processes, and cryogenic energy storage.
- Support proposals, project plans, and cost estimates for client assignments.
- Contribute to process safety assessments and promote best practice in quality and risk management.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships while representing the consultancy in meetings and site visits.
Candidate Profile
We are seeking an individual who can demonstrate:
- A degree in Chemical Engineering (or equivalent).
- Ideally, Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.
- Substantial experience gained within OEM, EPC, process manufacturing, or consultancy environments.
- Strong background in one or more of: oil & gas, chemicals, or industrial gases.
- Proven track record of delivering process engineering deliverables across multiple project phases.
- Detailed knowledge of process equipment (e.g., pumps, compressors, exchangers, tanks, vessels, valves, etc.).
- Understanding of applicable standards for amine and hydrogen applications.
- A sound grasp of process safety principles and quality systems in design and construction.
- Full right to work in the UK and willingness to travel in the UK and overseas when required.
