Overview
H9 Talent Solutions are recruiting for an experienced Project Planner to support a major industrial services project based in Glasgow. This is a contract opportunity operating outside IR35, ideal for a planner with strong experience in large-scale engineering, maintenance, or industrial projects.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, managing, and maintaining detailed project schedules, ensuring alignment between operations, engineering, and commercial teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, update, and maintain project schedules using recognised planning tools (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project).
- Work closely with project management, engineering, and site teams to gather accurate progress data.
- Monitor schedule performance, identify variances, and support recovery planning when needed.
- Prepare regular progress reports, dashboards, and time-related forecasts for senior stakeholders.
- Support resource planning, look-ahead schedules, and productivity tracking.
- Identify critical paths and constraints, ensuring risks and delays are highlighted early.
- Assist in planning shutdowns/outages, maintenance sequences, and execution strategies.
- Liaise with subcontractors and internal teams to ensure consistent and accurate programme updates.
- Ensure planning processes comply with internal procedures and industry best practice.
- Contribute to continuous improvement across planning and project control activities.
Experience & Skills Required
- Background as a Project Planner/Planning Engineer, ideally within industrial services, energy, petrochemical, heavy engineering or construction environments.
- Strong working knowledge of Primavera P6 (preferred) and/or Microsoft Project.
- Experience planning complex, multi-discipline workscopes across engineering, maintenance, or shutdown/outage projects.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, scopes of work, and work packs.
- Strong analytical and organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Effective communicator, able to work with both site teams and senior management.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, contract-led environment.
