Grace Covenant Church is a Bible church located in north Austin. Upward to 3,000 people call Grace their church. We are an equipping church and want our people to be transformed by God’s grace, connected through relationships, and engaged in ministry. . 

Grace Covenant Church was birthed from a vision and idea of a local bible study back in 1968 and has since grown in size and influence in the greater Austin area, but also around the world as Grace Covenant has partnered with over 80 missionaries and organizations to see changed lives for the Kingdom. 

The church functions under the capable leadership of Senior Pastor Dr. Matt Casssidy, who has helped maximize its capacity to almost 1,100 in average attendance each Sunday, with two dynamic services and a majority of the congregation engaged in various discipleship ministries on Sunday or during the week.. The 50 plus-year-old church has sustained a strong reputation in the area over the years and continues to passionately drive forth its purpose through its defined vision, mission, strategy, measures, and values. 

About the Children's Pastor/Director:

Grace Covenant Church seeks a passionate and dedicated Children’s Pastor/Director to lead a dynamic and engaging ministry for children (birth through 5th grade). This individual will disciple children in the love and knowledge of Jesus Christ, partner with parents in their spiritual development, and equip volunteers to serve effectively. The ideal candidate is a humble leader with a heart for children and families, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to the mission and values of Grace Covenant Church.

The Children's Pastor/Director Responsibilities Include: 

Leadership and Vision

• Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for spiritual growth in children, aligned with the church’s vision.
• Lead, mentor, and empower a team of staff and volunteers to create a safe, welcoming, and vibrant ministry environment.
• Stay informed on trends and best practices in children’s ministry, incorporating creative and relevant approaches to programming.

Programming and Curriculum

• Oversee the selection, preparation, and implementation of biblically sound, age-appropriate curriculum for all children’s ministry programs.
• Plan and execute engaging events, such as Kids Overnight Camp, Family Worship Night, family activities, and seasonal celebrations.
• Create opportunities for children to serve and connect within the broader church community.

Volunteer Development

• Recruit, train, and support volunteers to ensure a well-staffed and thriving children’s ministry.
• Provide regular communication, resources, and encouragement to volunteers, fostering a culture of teamwork and care.

Family Engagement

• Build strong relationships with parents, equipping them to disciple their children and integrate faith into daily life.
• Serve as a resource for families navigating spiritual, emotional, or developmental challenges.

Administrative Oversight

• Manage the children’s ministry budget, resources, and facilities effectively.
• Ensure compliance with child safety policies, including volunteer background checks and training.
• Maintain clear records and communication systems to track attendance, participation, and ministry impact.

What You Bring: 

The following describes many of the characteristics of the ideal candidate for the Children's Pastor/Director:

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree, required
• Theological education, strongly preferred
• 5+ years in children's ministry and/or education
• Experience from a mid-sized church or Associate experience from a large-sized church
• Prior supervision of ministry staff and recruiting volunteers

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Demonstrates a faithful and dynamic relationship with Jesus
• Proficient in implementing best practices for sharing Jesus with babies and preschoolers
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills

Austin is the state capital of Texas, an inland city bordering the Hill Country region. Home to the University of Texas flagship campus, Austin is a beautiful city known for its eclectic live-music scene centered around country, blues, and rock. Dell's worldwide headquarters is located in the nearby suburb of Round Rock. With regard to education, Austin is the home of the University of Texas at Austin, which is one of the largest universities in the U.S. and is attended by over 50,000 students.
