Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Quality Engineer opportunity in Jonesborough, TN.

 

Summary:

This position will be responsible for supporting the Nuclear Operations Group (NOG) of an industrial manufacturing facility in Jonesborough, TN. This position will be responsible for providing quality engineering support across multiple programs, will be a member of the 10-person quality team and will report to the Sr. Manager of Quality.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops and applies basic knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T) techniques in review/release of manufacturing plans and inspection plans
  • Prevents quality compliance issues by collaborating with technical teams in identifying and resolving product issues
  • Works directly with other departments including but not limited to Operations, Programs, Contracts, Engineering, and Health & Safety to provide process analysis oversight on a continuing basis to enforce requirements and meet guidelines
  • Prepare specifications and process parameters; development of rationale for cost estimates; and other activities requiring knowledge of principles and techniques commonly employed in the specific area of responsibility
  • Identify and order required gaging for program needs. Knowledge of SPC and other data in areas of responsibility and be able to initiate SPC requirement on new programs
  • May perform supplier quality and vendor site visits
  • Prepares written technical reports, inspection plans and customer documentation
  • Create presentations and present internally
  • Participates in open communication with the customer on quality issues
  • Assigns work and directs less senior engineering staff and support personnel as required
  • Interfaces with auditors, both internal and external
  • Ensures the accuracy and integrity of the quality documentation, inspection plans, and procedures
  • Continually looks for process improvement opportunities within the Quality department and across functional areas
  • Perform other duties as determined by site management

 

Qualifications:

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree, preferably in Engineering or Manufacturing discipline, and a minimum of two years of directly related experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment
  • Must possess effective, clear and concise verbal and written communication skills
  • Must have working knowledge of and experience with: Process Control Designs, Statistical Process Control methods, Project planning procedures pertinent to the particular area of responsibility and Statistical Analysis methods
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings and specifications
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Work, Excel, Outlook, Microsoft Project, etc.)
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and relate effectively with all levels of employees within the organization
  • Must be able to travel as required by the position
  • Must have the ability to interface effectively with all levels of personnel within the organization
  • Inspection of machine components, and performing gage R&R studies preferred
  • Experience with programming and operation of Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) desired
  • Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) experience preferred
  • Must be a US Citizen with no dual citizenship
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) and/or a Department of Energy (DOE) clearance
