Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for Designer/Drafter 1&2 (Mechanical) opportunities in Los Alamos, NM, to support the Los Alamos National Laboratory.
Per diem available for those who qualify.
Location: 100% onsite (TA-3 Otowi)
Group/Organization: PIE-CRO
Schedule: 4/10s M-Thur (5a-330p)
Key responsibilities include:
· Performs preconstruction design reviews and ensures design are ready to execute.
· Performs material takeoffs from native files and helps procurement order correct materials.
· Performs 2-phase review cycle (initial and final), supplies craft execution with shop drawings, setting drawings with dimensions to use as guides to assist in order and installing equipment.
· Perform walkdowns in TA-55, PF4, and various warehouses – use of government vehicle to go back and forth. (PF4 is a rad area, candidate would need to be able to walk in there).
· Produces and details routine drawings/layouts of components, facilities and/or systems.
· Generates and/or modifies computer-aided design (CAD) drawings of moderate complexity based on information from others.
· Develops basic computer-aided design (CAD) drawings and design models under the direction of a senior designer.
· Uses industry codes, standards, and customer specifications to prepare work plans, drawings and layouts.
· Applies engineering design principles to design and fabrication of components and assemblies as directed.
· Understands fabrication, construction, operation, and maintenance requirements relevant to designated discipline.
· Works with engineering team to ensure drawing quality.
· Performs calculations in support of technical problems.
· Produce work in accordance with budget and schedule constraints.
· Participates in process improvement activities.
Required Qualifications:
· High School Diploma:
o Level 1: One-to-two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
o Level 2: Three-to-five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desired Skills:
· Experience with Building Integrated Model (BIM) drafting tool.
· CAD certification. No preference to which version.
