Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for Operational Readiness Professional opportunities in Oak Ridge, TN.

Position Overview:

We are seeking experienced Operational Readiness professionals to support high-visibility startup and commissioning activities at a major U.S. Department of Energy nuclear facility. These positions play a critical role in ensuring new facilities and projects achieve safe, compliant, and successful Startup Authorization in accordance with DOE requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support operational readiness reviews and Startup Authorization activities for DOE nuclear projects.
• Collect, evaluate, and document technical evidence demonstrating operational readiness.
• Assess compliance with DOE startup, safety, and operational requirements.
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, training, maintenance, and nuclear safety organizations.
• Participate in readiness assessments, corrective action verification, and startup planning.
• Help ensure projects are prepared for safe, compliant operations.

Basic Qualifications:

• Technical background in engineering, nuclear operations, maintenance, training, or nuclear safety
• Familiarity with DOE Orders 420.1 (Facility Safety) and 425.1 (Startup and Restart of Nuclear Facilities)
• Experience supporting operational readiness reviews, management assessments, startup testing, or commissioning activities
• Strong analytical, technical writing, and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively on multidisciplinary teams supporting complex nuclear projects

Other Job Requirements:

• United States Citizenship
• Active Q Clearance (preferred) or ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q Security Clearance

Level Specific Qualifications:

Readiness Subject Matter Expert (SME)

• Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Engineering or related technical discipline
• 7+ years supporting or leading DOE readiness efforts resulting in Startup Authorization
• Strong background in nuclear operations, engineering, and nuclear safety
• Experience interpreting DOE startup and readiness requirements

Readiness Team Leader

• 4+ years of practical readiness or startup experience
• Previous experience serving as a Readiness Team Leader
• Familiarity with DOE readiness assessment tools and startup authorization processes
• Experience with Contractor Assurance Systems (CAS)

Readiness Team Member

• Knowledge of DOE readiness reviews and startup processes
• Minimum 2 years of related DOE or nuclear industry experience
• Ability to evaluate technical documentation and support readiness assessments

Readiness Team Associate

• Associate degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience
• Awareness of DOE operational readiness review processes
• Less than 2 years of related experience

Readiness Training Development & Deployment Specialist

• 5+ years developing and delivering technical training in accordance with DOE Order 426.2A OR
• Experience designing, developing, or delivering highly technical qualification training programs within DOE or commercial nuclear environment
