Edgewater Technical Associates, LLC is seeking qualified candidates for an ES&H Specialist opportunity in Oak Ridge, TN for our Projects Group.

 

Job Description:

The ES&H Specialist will support industrial construction activities by providing onsite environmental, safety, and health oversight. The successful candidate will ensure work is performed safely and in compliance with applicable Federal, State, Local, DOE, OSHA, and company safety requirements while serving as a trusted safety resource for project personnel.

 

This position requires a visible field presence throughout active work, participation in daily planning activities, and proactive identification and mitigation of workplace hazards to protect personnel, property, and the environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide full-time onsite ES&H oversight whenever construction or field work is being performed to ensure compliance with project safety requirements, OSHA regulations, and applicable Federal, State, Local, DOE, and company standards.
  • Participate in daily pre-job briefings to review planned work activities, identify hazards, verify appropriate controls, and promote safe work execution.
  • Serve as the ES&H point of contact for project personnel regarding safety concerns, incidents, injuries, and emergency response activities, ensuring appropriate actions are taken in accordance with project procedures.
  • Monitor field activities to identify hazardous conditions affecting personnel, property, the environment, or the public, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support compliance with Environmental, Safety & Health programs, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements while fostering a strong safety culture across the project.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with project management, craft personnel, subcontractors, and client representatives.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant Technical Field, or equivalent amount of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum of 3 years safety and health experience in related construction work environments.
  • OSHA 30 Hour Construction Safety Training
  • Demonstrated experience providing field safety oversight on active construction projects.
  • Extensive knowledge of OSHA regulations and the ability to interpret and enforce safety requirements in the field.
  • Strong understanding of industrial safety principles, hazard recognition, risk assessment, and mitigation practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Level 1 Certification in Erosion Prevention and Sediment Control From the TN Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) and strong understanding of TN General Storm Water Permit requirements.
  • Experience supporting DOE, NNSA, or other Federal industrial construction projects.
  • Active DOE Q Clearance
