Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for an Operations Support Specialist 2 (Facility Ops Support) opportunity in Los Alamos, NM to support the Los Alamos National Laboratory.

 

Per diem is available for those who qualify.

Citizenship: United States Citizenship is required

Work Location: 100% Onsite, TA-50/55

Organization/Group: LIP-DD

Schedule: 4/10s and OT

Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain DOE Q Clearance. An active Q clearance is preferred.

 

Summary:

We are seeking an experienced The Operations Support Specialist (OSS) 2 to provide hands-on and administrative support to facility operations at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). This position plays a critical role in supporting day-to-day coordination of activities related to glovebox operations, radiological safety, infrastructure installation, and procedural compliance across secured DOE/NNSA environments.

 

The successful candidate will have a strong foundation in field operations, project support, and safety practices within regulated or high-consequence mission areas. Familiarity with LANL-specific systems (e.g., LANMAS, LAMCAS), radiological safety protocols, and facility readiness processes is highly preferred.

 

Duties:

  • Support daily operational activities in coordination with facility managers, program leads, and technical teams.
  • Assist with the installation, modification, and decommissioning of facility equipment and infrastructure in compliance with LANL standards.
  • Monitor field operations and help ensure alignment with approved procedures, safety regulations, and programmatic objectives.
  • Maintain documentation, track equipment/material logistics, and support readiness review processes.
  • Interface with subcontractors, construction coordinators, and project stakeholders to align scope, schedules, and access requirements.
  • Support data collection and reporting for compliance, safety, and project performance.
  • Provide assistance with glovebox operations, radiological PPE use, and adherence to Radiological Work Permits (RWPs) where required.
  • Uphold safety-first principles and participate in continuous improvement efforts related to operational readiness, procedure adherence, and hazard mitigation.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or certifications in related areas strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in operations, construction coordination, or technical program support—preferably within a DOE, NNSA, or similar high-security environment.
  • Working knowledge of facility operations, glovebox support, radiological protocols, or HVAC/fabrication installation.
  • Familiarity with LANL systems such as LANMAS, LAMCAS, and/or Earned Value Management System (EVMS) tools.
  • Ability to read and follow technical procedures and work packages.
  • Must possess or be eligible to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-Clearance.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Radiological Worker II
  • Glovebox Operations Certified (GBO 1)
  • HAZWOPER Certification
  • Fissile Material Handler (FMH)
  • Respirator Certification (PAPR/APR)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Experience supporting LANL programs or similar DOE/NNSA projects
