Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Document Control Manager opportunity to support the Savannah River Site.


Work Location: Aiken, SC


Document Control Manager-


The Document Control Manager oversees the development, implementation, and management of document control processes in compliance with NQA-1 quality assurance standards, DOE contractual requirements, and applicable federal regulations. This includes alignment of Document Control programs with ASME NQA-1, applicable Department of Energy (DOE) Orders, and project-specific requirements. The Document Control Specialist ensures accurate storage, maintenance, retention creation, and distribution of project and organizational documents to support nuclear, environmental, and government operations. The Document Control Manager provides oversite and leadership to document control personnel, interfaces with project leadership, and drives continuous improvement across the document control processes.

 

Responsibilities:

 

1.     Document Control Management

  • Develop, implement, and maintain document control policies, procedures, and workflows compliant with ASME NQA-1, DOE Order requirements, and project-specific quality assurance plans.
  • Manage the complete document lifecycle, including creation, classification, numbering, version control, distribution, release, and archival.
  • Ensure timely processing and retrieval of controlled documents such as engineering drawings, technical procedures, QA records, procurement documentation, and regulatory deliverables.
  • Administer and maintain Electronic Document Management Systems (EDMS) such as SharePoint, IDMS, EDMS, or other DOE-approved platforms.


2.     Compliance & Quality Assurance

  • Ensure document management practices comply with NQA-1, 10 CFR 830 Subpart A, DOE Orders, and contractual QA requirements.
  • Coordinate and support internal and external audits, assessments, and surveillance related to document control.
  • Maintain traceability, configuration control, and records integrity in accordance with nuclear and DOE standards.
  • Develop corrective and preventive actions related to document control findings or non-conformances.


3.     Team & Stakeholder Coordination

  • Lead and supervise document control specialists, records coordinators, and administrative staff.
  • Collaborate with engineering, QA/QC, project management, procurement, construction, and DOE customer representatives to ensure controlled documentation meets project needs.
  • Provide training on document control procedures, EDMS usage, and compliance requirements.


4.     Records Management

  • Oversee classification, retention, protection, and disposition of records in accordance with DOE Records Management guidelines and federal records laws.
  • Ensure secure handling of sensitive, proprietary, UCNI, OUO, or classified information per DOE and federal directives (as applicable).


Education/Yrs. of Experience:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Quality, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Five to ten (5–10) + years of document control experience, with at least 3+ years in a nuclear, DOE, or other regulated environment.


Required Skills:

 

  • Strong knowledge of ASME NQA-1, DOE Orders (e.g., DOE O 414.1D, DOE O 243.1C), and federal QA/records requirements.
  • Experience managing document control systems in engineering, construction, or nuclear projects.
  • Proficiency with electronic document management systems and standard office applications.
  • Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience working with DOE primes or national laboratory contractors.
  • Knowledge of nuclear facility operations, environmental cleanup programs, or major capital projects.
  • Active or eligible for DOE security clearance.
  • Certifications such as CMP (Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence) or equivalent.

Salary is commensurate with education and experience and may range between $165K and $220K (DOE) annually.
