Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Technical Project Manager 1 (Engineering) opportunity in Los Alamos, NM to support the Los Alamos National Laboratory.

 

Per diem is available for those who qualify.

Citizenship: United States Citizenship is required

Work Location: 100% Onsite, TA-50/55

Organization/Group: LIP-DD

Schedule: 4/10s and OT

Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain DOE Q Clearance. An active Q clearance is preferred.

 

Summary:

The Technical Project Manager (TPM) 1 is responsible for supporting the planning, coordination, and execution of technical and operational project activities across multidisciplinary teams within secure DOE facilities. This position contributes to defining project deliverables, maintaining schedules, and ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and performance standards. The selected candidate will assist in developing technical documentation, coordinating readiness activities, and managing the day-to-day project operations that enable mission success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the planning and execution of discrete project tasks from initiation through closeout, ensuring adherence to technical, safety, and schedule requirements.
  • Assist with defining project scope, deliverables, and milestones; track progress and coordinate with stakeholders to ensure timely completion.
  • Develop technical documentation, data reports, and visual materials supporting project reviews, readiness assessments, and presentations.
  • Create and maintain engineering drawings, spatial analyses, and 3D models to support feasibility reviews and system integration efforts.
  • Assist in tracking project risks, performance metrics, and corrective actions in accordance with Laboratory procedures.
  • Coordinate cross-functional meetings, document action items, and communicate status updates to technical and operations teams.
  • Support compliance with DOE orders, safety standards, and quality assurance requirements within radiological and secure work environments.
  • Contribute to process improvement efforts and lessons learned documentation to enhance overall project performance.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Industrial, or related Engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, including internships or research in an engineering or technical environment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and analytical skills with the ability to synthesize technical data.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Q Clearance (active clearance preferred).

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor
  • Experience supporting DOE, NNSA, or NRC programs or operations.
  • Working knowledge of DOE safety, radiological, and security standards.
  • Familiarity with project tracking tools, engineering document control, and facility operations documentation.
  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
  • Hands-on experience developing 2D/3D technical models, spatial layouts, or mechanical system analyses.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to cross-disciplinary projects and prepare professional-level technical presentations.
