What You’ll Do
As a Wastewater & Recycling Technician, you will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible operation of wastewater treatment and recycling systems. This hands-on role involves testing, maintaining, and troubleshooting chemical systems and equipment critical to plant operations. You’ll also support hazardous waste handling and be an integral part of the HAZMAT response team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain wastewater and recycling systems, ensuring compliance with operational standards.
- Troubleshoot and repair pumps, valves, and other mechanical systems.
- Perform routine lab tests and calibrate instrumentation per ISO standards.
- Collect and process hazardous waste according to documented procedures.
- Maintain accurate documentation in spreadsheets, databases, and reports.
- Safely operate powered industrial equipment, such as forklifts and pallet jacks.
- Communicate status updates and system issues through written and verbal shift pass-downs.
- Uphold 5S housekeeping standards in all work areas.
- Participate in the site’s HAZMAT Response Team.
What You Bring
Required:
- High school diploma or GED (Associate’s degree in a science or technical discipline preferred).
- Mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with pumps and industrial equipment.
- Prior experience handling industrial chemicals (acids, bases, hydrogen peroxide).
- Valid driver’s license.
- Basic proficiency in Word, Excel, and computer-based recordkeeping.
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Willingness to work a 12-hour rotating shift and be part of a safety-conscious team.
Preferred (Not Required):
- Experience with chemical compatibilities and wet chemical processes.
- Two years of recent forklift experience.
- Familiarity with PLC/HMI-controlled systems.
Physical Requirements:
- Lift up to 51 pounds occasionally; up to 37 pounds frequently.
- Walk, stand, and operate equipment up to 12 hours/day.
- Ability to wear respirators and other PPE (steel-toe boots, gloves, etc.).
- Must meet vision requirements (20/40 in each eye, ability to distinguish red, yellow, and green).
