Compensation: Around $105,000 base salary + full benefits

Position Overview

We are seeking a Quality Assurance Manager to oversee all quality operations at our Altoona repair facility. You will ensure products and processes meet customer, regulatory (AAR/FRA), and company requirements by leading audits, managing quality metrics, and driving corrective actions. You will train and guide supervisors and employees on quality processes, special procedures, and work instructions, and serve as the primary liaison for customer and regulatory audits. This role is both hands-on and strategic, requiring strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to work across departments to maintain compliance and improve performance.


Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the facility’s quality assurance program meets all AAR M1003, AAR M1002, FRA, customer, and company requirements.
  • Audit employees, processes, and products to verify compliance and prevent errors.
  • Track, analyze, and report quality metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Lead root cause analysis using tools such as 5Y, Fishbone, and PDCA; develop and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Conduct internal audits and coordinate responses to customer, AAR, and FRA inspections.
  • Train personnel and supervisors on quality procedures, special processes, and work instructions.
  • Ensure certifications remain current and documentation is accurate.
  • Participate in quality projects and Responsible Care initiatives.


Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in tank car repair or manufacturing with strong knowledge of AAR and FRA regulations.
  • AWS-CWI certification and knowledge of NDT inspection processes (VT, PT) preferred.
