We are seeking an Interim Development Director for a full-time temporary role. The primary focus of this role is annual giving, board relations, and supervising the database admins. 

This is a Hybrid, full-time, temporary role. The candidate has to be located in the Chicago area.

LOCATION: Hybrid (Arlington Heights)

POSITION TITLE: Interim Development Director

SCHEDULE: 35 hours/week, 4 days in person, one day remote.

DURATION: Temporary

Pay- $35-$50/hr depending on experience



Is This Your Dream Job? The Director of Development is responsible for advancing the organization's mission through major gifts ($5,000+) and planned giving. The successful candidate will expand and diversify the donor base by developing and maintaining effective relationships with potential and current

donors. The Director of Development will report to the Vice President of Development &

Marketing.


 Our Ideal Candidate:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Proven track record of securing $5,000+ gifts through face-to-face solicitation.
  • Demonstrate ability to work collaboratively in a team-based
  • environment.
  • Must be highly motivated, goal-oriented, and a strategic thinker with the ability to work independently, determine, and set priorities, manage multiple projects, and maintain a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Experience with capital campaigns.
  • Self-starter and goal-driven to initiate donor visits and fundraising calls.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills required.
  • Strong computer skills and database skills, experience with Raisers Edge Software.


How You Will Spend Your Day:

  •  Manage a portfolio of approximately 300 major and planned gift donors.
  • Responsible for major donor identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship, including meeting with donors, creating gift proposals, and managing gift agreements/naming opportunities.
  • Establish and manage major/planned donor recognition plans, including, but not limited to, Donor acknowledgment letters, individual donor stewardship events, and individual donor recognition.
  • Oversee prospect research and develop relationships with prospective individuals that lead to direct solicitations.
  • Track development activity and donor interactions by entering key interactions and strategies into the fundraising database, Raiser’s Edge.
  • Further, the planned giving program will educate constituents about bequest giving.
  • Accurately track known, committed bequests.
  • Attend special events and other programs as appropriate.
  • Create a strategic plan for donor development.
  • Manage 2 development admins.
  • Responsible for successfully implementing the PHI coaching approach as well as utilizing PHI techniques when communicating with staff.
