Careers In Nonprofits is leading in the search for the next Director of Marketing and Communications for the New York Bankers Association.

 

The is a Full-Time, Hybrid opportunity based in Midtown-Manhattan, NY with a salary range of $90,000 to $115,000.

SALARY RANGE: $90,000-$115,000 (commensurate with experience)



Is This Your Dream Job?  The Director of Marketing and Communications plays a key role in advancing the association’s visibility, brand, and value by overseeing integrated marketing and communications strategies that support advocacy, member engagement, and educational programming. Reporting to the Vice President of Communications, this position develops and implements campaigns, manages digital platforms, and ensures consistent messaging across all channels.


The Director works closely with the Vice President of Communications, the Director of Member Engagement, and other staff to drive awareness, promote programs and events, and strengthen member connections to the association. The ideal candidate will combine strong strategic thinking with hands-on execution, vendor management, and the ability to adapt in a small-office environment.


Our Ideal Candidate:

  • 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in marketing and communications, preferably in an association, nonprofit, or membership organization.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing integrated marketing campaigns.
  • Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) and basic HTML/CSS.
  • Proficiency in digital marketing platforms (e.g., Constant Contact, Google Analytics, social media management tools).
  • Strong writing, editing, and content development skills, including adherence to AP style.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Knowledge of or interest in the banking industry and public policy environment is helpful.
  • Bachelor's Degree- Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field

 

How You Will Spend Your Day:

Marketing & Campaign Strategy

  • Develop and oversee strategic marketing campaigns to promote the association’s programs, conferences, publications, and member services.
  • Ensure campaigns align with the association’s broader communications strategy and advocacy mission.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors, including designers, marketing contractors, and event app providers.
  • Track and report on campaign analytics (email, website, and social media), and adjust strategies to improve performance.


Digital Communications

  • Oversee the association’s website refresh project and provide continued management of the website, ensuring content is timely, accurate, and aligned with brand standards.
  • Lead the development of social media content and strategy across key platforms (LinkedIn, Facebook, X/Twitter).
  • Manage digital tools and platforms, including email marketing (Constant Contact), analytics, and event applications.
  • Create and edit multimedia content (graphics, video, audio, and podcasts) as needed.


Content Development & Publications

  • Contribute to the creation of newsletters, member updates, promotional content, and other digital/print materials.
  • Ensure communications uphold the association’s tone, style, and branding guidelines.
  • Serve as backup publisher of The Daily newsletter.


Collaboration & Member Engagement Support

  • Work closely with the Vice President of Communications to ensure alignment of marketing and communications efforts with organizational strategy.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Member Engagement to ensure member outreach and communications support engagement goals.
  • Coordinate with staff across departments to highlight events, services, and advocacy initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as required to support the overall goals of the department/association.


Compensation and Benefits

This is a full-time, exempt position and reports to the Vice President of Communications. NYBA offers a competitive salary between $90,000-115,000 (commensurate with experience) and generous benefits, including:

Location and Travel

NYBA offers a hybrid work model: on-site/work from home; office located in New York City (Midtown).

 

Some travel required: 3-4 events annually, and meetings in/around New York State
