We are currently in search of a temporary Community & Housing Resource Navigator for a Social Services Nonprofit. The position is full-time, hybrid, based in Washington, DC.

LOCATION: Washington, DC – Hybrid (includes in-home visits with participants)

POSITION TITLE: Community & Housing Resource Navigator

HOURS: Full-Time, 40 hours/week

DURATION: Ongoing

PAY: $29.00/hour


Is This Your Dream Job? The Community & Housing Resource Navigator provides short-term advocacy, systems navigation, and support to survivors of domestic and sexual violence and their children in the community who are seeking housing resources. The position is the first point of contact for entry to the organization's programs and resources, and assesses survivors and assists them in navigating social services systems. In addition, the position researches and identifies resources useful to survivors and provides administrative and operational support to the Manager, Intake and Director, Intake & Residential Programs to ensure proper documentation for disbursing the organization's resources to survivors.



Our Ideal Candidate:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or related field preferred (or equivalent work/lived experience)
  • 2+ years of experience in case management, systems navigation, or advocacy services
  • Experience supporting survivors of domestic/sexual violence strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care, safety planning, and de-escalation
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting needs assessments and providing information and referral services to connect people with relevant resources and services based on their assessed needs.
  • Demonstrated experience providing case management, direct advocacy, or support services in the domestic/sexual violence and/or housing/homeless sector.
  • Experience in and understanding of safety planning, including safety from perpetrators of harm and safety from systems and community, is preferred.
  • Familiarity with housing resources, homelessness services, and public benefits in the DMV area
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
  • Bilingual/multilingual skills (Spanish, Amharic, Vietnamese, Mandarin, or ASL) a plus


How You Will Spend Your Day:

  • Conduct intakes, needs assessments, safety plans, and goal planning for program participants
  • Provide ongoing case management and support services, including crisis response and navigation of housing and social services
  • Manage a caseload of ~15 participants across multiple programs (EP, PE, RTD)
  • Conduct regular check-ins, including in-home visits, phone, or virtual meetings
  • Assist participants in accessing housing, public benefits, healthcare, employment, childcare, and other essential resources
  • Partner with landlords to resolve tenant issues and maintain stable housing
  • Maintain accurate and timely case documentation in client databases (Osnium)
  • Collect data and contribute to program reports and evaluation
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to expand community resources
  • Participate in on-call rotation to provide support outside of business hours
  • Support and mentor teammates in delivering trauma-informed, survivor-centered services
  • Represent the organization at outreach and community events


This is a hybrid (in-person/remote) position that requires on-site presence on a rotating schedule—typically two weeks on-site followed by one week remote—based on staffing capacity. In addition, the position requires in-person presence at the organization's offices one day per week. On-site scheduling may evolve based on program or organizational needs. Travel within Washington, DC is required as part of the job responsibilities. This includes travel to all organization's offices, community sites, and other Washington, DC locations during business hours.
