About the Role

The Project Engineer develops, manages, and executes all phases of construction cost control and planning/scheduling for one or more large, complex projects. This role provides guidance, direction, and specialized assistance to resolve challenging project control issues, interfaces directly with clients, participates in project meetings, and prepares required statistical and progress reports.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the project team in formulating, maintaining, and updating the project schedule (materials, equipment, subcontractors).
  • Prepare cost estimates and pricing proposals for clients.
  • Draft purchase orders, subcontract agreements, and change orders for review/approval by the Project Manager.
  • Track weekly production quantities and develop accurate weekly/monthly cost reports.
  • Prepare, submit, and verify monthly pay applications with the owner.
  • Process shop drawings and submittals; coordinate material deliveries with the Project Superintendent.
  • Reconcile and verify monthly accruals, revenue, and costs.
  • Provide technical and operational assistance to the Quality Control team.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors to ensure scope, schedule, and quality compliance.
  • Support the Operations Manager in defining and optimizing project means and methods.
  • Ensure administrative and accounting information from the field is accurate, timely, and complete.
  • Participate in project closeout and final acceptance alongside the Project Manager.
  • Promote and maintain a safe working environment; enforce site safety policies and procedures.
  • Oversee and mentor onsite Construction and Field Engineers.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management (required).
  • 3+ years’ experience as a Project Engineer, with emphasis on roads, highways, and/or bridges (required).
  • Familiarity with construction industry practices, standards, and documentation.
