Job Purpose

Responsible for leading, managing, procuring, growing, and executing the efforts of the San Antonio

office, that presently performs design and engineering services for Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and

Structural, as well as Commissioning services in a variety of markets including commercial, education,

healthcare, transportation, infrastructure, multi-family, travel & leisure, and civic.

The potential candidate will be a “market leader” for the San Antonio office and will be responsible for

growing the size and revenue of the office.


Duties and Responsibilities

Essential duties and functions may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.

Lead and Manage the San Antonio Office and Staff

• Function as a Market Leader for the San Antonio office and be responsible for growing the number

of employees in the San Antonio office.

• Lead and manage the San Antonio office.

• Manage and mentor San Antonio staff.

• Manage project costs and profitability of the San Antonio office.

• Be a subject matter expert in the MEP Design and Management processes to train others.

• Lead in updating and refining the MEP Design processes based on new technology.

• Assist in developing tools and templates for the MEP Department.

Develop New Business and Maintain Existing Clients

• Increase the revenue generated from the San Antonio office.

• Assist in Request for Qualification (RFQ) project write-ups and participate in project interviews

when required.

• Assist with general business development efforts such as meeting new clients and maintaining

existing client relationships.

• Generate leads to pursue MEP Design, Structural Design and Commissioning work.

• Collaborate with other department heads (Marketing, MEP, Structural, CxA) to develop business.

Function as a Managing Engineer

• Work with Engineering Project Managers, the owner, design team, and construction/installation

partners to review projects and troubleshoot as needed and perform QA/QC services.

• Leverage industry expertise to troubleshoot maintenance and system issues.

• Wherever senior leadership is needed, collaborate with project managers and project team

members (internally and externally) to facilitate a successful project.

• Assist owners and/or clients to develop owner project requirements.

• Provide leadership and knowledge to assist Project Engineers with MEP specifications, when

needed.

• Perform step-by-step review and verification of project MEP design and QA/QC procedures.

• Assist with performing MEP job observation site visits and issuing job observation reports, when

needed.


Qualifications include:

• Bachelor of Science or advanced degree in Mechanical (HVAC) or Electrical Engineering.

• Professional Engineer license in the state of Texas.

• Ten (10) plus years of related industry experience is desired, including a sound background in MEP

Engineering Design.

• Project management expertise, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource planning.

• Business development experience.

• Experience developing proposals.

• Proficiency in client facing activities, client relationship building and client management skills.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Proficiency in MS Office and general computer use.

• Experience using Revu Bluebeam.

• Technical knowledge of MEP system design and operation, and experience with controls and

instrumentation (design and implementation).

• Familiar with the engineering submittal review and RFI processes.

• Familiar with MEP construction standards and guidelines.

• Ability to view drawings in AutoCAD and Revit.


Working Conditions

This is a full-time position that may require travel within Texas.



Physical Requirements

This role will require office work and site work to perform in MEP design and observation tasks. Ability to

be active and mobile on job sites is required. Ability to climb ladders/stairs and to lift and carry loads in

excess of 20 lbs. is needed, as well as ability to be on a job site for extended periods of time (8-10 hours).
