EHS Specialist III — $51–$71/hr (DOE) | Onsite | 6-Month Contract

Location: Northern California (Hercules Area)

Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Duration: 6-Month Contract

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist III to play a critical role in supporting safety, compliance, and sustainability across multiple operational sites in Northern California.

In this role, you will collaborate with a global EHS team to strengthen occupational and environmental safety programs across R&D, manufacturing, and distribution operations. What You’ll Do

As an EHS Specialist III, you will serve as a key partner to operations, regulatory teams, and leadership to ensure safety standards and environmental compliance are maintained across multiple facilities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate and manage occupational safety programs, including:
  • Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
  • Industrial ergonomics
  • Hazard communication
  • Chemical management
  • Biosafety initiatives
  • Oversee environmental compliance programs, including:
  • Stormwater management
  • Air quality compliance
  • Hazardous waste management
  • Chemical storage and handling
  • Lead and support onsite safety teams, including emergency response teams and safety committees
  • Drive cross-site EHS initiatives to strengthen safety culture and operational sustainability
  • Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees across multiple functions
  • Partner with manufacturing and regulatory teams on process safety reviews and materials assessments
  • Support development and review of Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
  • Lead incident and accident investigations, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory standards and internal safety policies


What You Bring

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline such as:
  • Environmental Health & Safety
  • Engineering
  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Occupational Safety

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in Environmental Health & Safety within industrial, manufacturing, laboratory, or regulated environments
  • Experience supporting multi-site operations is strongly preferred

Technical Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of Cal/OSHA and EPA regulations
  • Familiarity with local and county environmental compliance requirements
  • Experience with environmental programs such as hazardous waste management, air quality, and stormwater compliance

Tools & Systems

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Experience with SAP or enterprise systems is a plus
  • Exposure to tools such as Power BI, Smartsheets, DocuSign, or UL WERCS is advantageous

Professional Skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced environments
  • Skilled in cross-functional collaboration with engineering, manufacturing, and regulatory teams
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, especially during incident investigations
