The Opportunity  

The role of Construction Director represents more than oversight, it is leadership with influence as you lead at scale, bringing vision and authority to some of Canada’s most ambitious industrial projects. You will seamlessly balance strategy with day-to-day execution, resolving challenges with solid judgment, and ensuring every decision keeps projects moving forward. 

Your leadership will serve as a catalyst for alignment across managers, crews, stakeholders, and executives. Each choice you make will balance immediate outcomes with long-term impact, reinforcing the company’s reputation for excellence, safety and innovation.

Key Responsibilities  

As Construction Director, you will work collaboratively and are responsible for: 

  • Providing leadership and guidance to construction managers and teams, coordinating their efforts, and fostering a collaborative environment. 
  • Defining comprehensive construction strategies and timelines to align with broader business strategy. 
  • Reviewing construction methodologies, schedules, quality standards, and safety compliance, making informed decisions to resolve challenges. 
  • Overseeing budgets, allocating financial and other resources efficiently, and ensuring cost-effectiveness throughout the project lifecycle. 
  • Identifying potential risks, developing mitigation strategies, and making critical decisions to keep projects on track. 
  • Serving as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, providing regular updates, managing expectations, and maintaining strong relationships 
  • Tracking project progress, analyzing performance, and providing regular reports and feedback to project managers, senior management, and external parties. 
  • Making crucial decisions regarding project direction, resources, and problem-solving to ensure project goals are met. 
  • Promote a culture of safety, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement across the project. 

 

Qualifications  

As Construction Director, you will possess the following qualities: 

The Essentials (Hard Skills): 

  • 15+ years of progressive experience in industrial construction, with at least 10 years in a senior leadership role. 
  • Degree in construction management, civil engineering, architecture, or a Journeyperson trades certification (or equivalent technical background). 
  • Proven track record managing large-scale industrial projects; mining sector experience considered an asset. 
  • Comprehensive knowledge of construction practices, materials, mathematics, and estimating principles. 
  • Ability to anticipate risks and implement effective risk management strategies. 
  •

  • Skilled in conflict management, negotiation, and labour relations. 
  • Exceptional leadership presence with a passion for mentoring and developing future leaders.
