Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Security Systems Specialist opportunity in Carlsbad, NM to support the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP).

 

Work Location: On-site at WIPP

Per diem and/or Relocation is available

 

The Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is the nation’s only permanent nuclear waste repository for defense-generated transuranic (TRU) waste generated from Department of Energy (DOE) sites across the country. Waste is permanently isolated over 2,000 feet underground in deep salt beds.

 

Job Summary:

This position supports Safeguards and Security (S&S) operations. The primary role of this position is to assist in the administration of physical security systems such as physical access control systems (PACS) and video assessment and surveillance systems (VASS).

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Monitor daily system performance to ensure proper functionality and must possess or obtain sufficient understanding of Site systems to assist end users in performing basic troubleshooting to restore functionality during system disruptions.
  • If necessary, liaise with and support cognizant engineers or other technical experts to resolve issues which are beyond the scope of basic troubleshooting.
  • Assist in developing training for end users, including providing demonstrations as necessary.
  • Perform routine tests of security systems.
  • Must have or obtain sufficient understanding of manufacture’s specifications and site requirements to provide their supervisor and S&S management with information necessary to make decisions on compliance, significant issue resolution, and lifecycle sustainment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree, or
  • Associate’s degree with four (4) years of professional experience, or
  • High School Diploma or Equivalency with eight (8) years of professional experience is required.
  • Must be technologically proficient.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active "Q" Clearance
  • Certification or experience with CCure 9000 System
  • Software House AC9410 System Managers
  • Software House AC9006 Advanced System Managers
  • Avigilon Control Center experience

 

Other Job Requirements:

  • United States Citizenship
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a "Q" Clearance
