Job Location: North Charleston, SC
Travel: Minimal – occasional travel for audits, training, or supplier visits
Compensation: $111,000 to $139,000 + up to 10% annual bonus
Work Setting: Onsite, Monday through Friday

Position Summary:
We are seeking a hands-on Quality Control Manager to lead all aspects of quality at a high-volume manufacturing facility. This role is critical in ensuring product compliance, driving continuous improvement, and upholding a culture of quality throughout operations. Reporting to the Director of Operations, you’ll lead a small team and collaborate cross-functionally to resolve issues, maintain ISO 9001 standards, and improve first-pass yield and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Systems & Compliance
- Lead and maintain ISO 9001 Quality Management System
- Ensure compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements
- Coordinate and prepare for internal, customer, and third-party audits
- Oversee corrective and preventive actions using root cause analysis tools (8D, DMAIC, 5 Whys)
Leadership & Team Development
- Manage, mentor, and develop a team of 4–5 quality professionals
- Set performance standards and drive accountability across the team
- Foster a proactive quality culture across the facility
Process Improvement & Metrics
- Analyze quality metrics, trends, and nonconformance data
- Collaborate with operations and engineering to improve yield, reduce scrap, and resolve issues
- Lead initiatives to improve incoming inspection, in-process checks, and final product release
Customer & Supplier Quality
- Manage customer complaints, RMAs, and warranty claims
- Interface with customers and suppliers on quality concerns and expectations
- Support supply chain by managing supplier quality and conducting necessary audits
Documentation & Technical Support
- Maintain quality documentation, procedures, and control plans
- Support creation of product specifications and test methods
- Write and review technical quality reports and protocols
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field
- 15+ years of experience in manufacturing, with 5+ years in a quality leadership role
- Experience in ISO 9001-certified environments
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification
- Strong analytical skills and familiarity with tools like Excel and Minitab
- Technical knowledge of control plans, PFMEA, SPC, and inspection processes
- Ability to lead by example in a fast-paced, hands-on production environment
- Must be clean-shaven to wear a respirator in designated areas
Preferred:
- Experience with plastic injection molding, assembly, or electrical safety products
- Working knowledge of lean manufacturing and statistical process control (SPC)
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in a manufacturing setting and walk the production floor
- Capable of wearing PPE, including respirators, in compliance with safety protocols
- May require standing, climbing, or occasional lifting up to 40 lbs
