We are currently in search of an Economic Advancement Specialist for the District Alliance for Safe Housing (DASH). This is a full-time, hybrid position based in Washington, DC. This is a permanent assignment.

The Economic Advancement Specialist (EAS) supports participants in DASH’s housing programs by promoting economic mobility and long-term financial independence. As part of the DASH Care Team, the EAS helps survivors achieve employment, education, and financial goals through personalized coaching, group workshops, and cross-team collaboration. This position plays a key role in helping survivors transition from crisis to stability by equipping them with the tools to thrive financially and professionally.


Our Ideal Candidate:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human services, finance, social work, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • At least 1 year of experience supporting employment readiness, financial capability, or economic mobility for individuals facing barriers.
  • Familiarity with DC-based employment and education resources and workforce systems.
  • Experience working with survivors of domestic violence, trauma, and housing instability.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed and strengths-based approaches.
  • Strong understanding of financial literacy concepts, including budgeting, debt management, credit building, and savings strategies.
  • Experience facilitating resume support, career planning, and job search guidance.
  • Strong collaboration, documentation, and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with project management tools (Trello, Asana, Monday.com), databases (Osnium or HMIS), and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Bilingual ability (Spanish, Amharic, Vietnamese, Mandarin, or ASL) is a plus.
  • COVID-19 vaccination required.


How You Will Spend Your Day:

Direct Service (75%)

  • Coach participants on employment goals, resume building, interview skills, and job readiness.
  • Connect participants to workforce development programs, apprenticeships, and credentialing pathways.
  • Provide support with educational goals such as GED completion and postsecondary training.
  • Deliver one-on-one financial coaching and group workshops on budgeting, saving, and credit repair.
  • Partner with other team members to integrate economic goals into overall wellness and housing plans.
  • Track participant progress and outcomes, ensuring timely and accurate documentation.

Resource & Partnership Management (10%)

  • Build relationships with employers, training providers, and education partners.
  • Coordinate referrals to financial institutions, adult learning centers, and job programs.
  • Represent DASH at partner events and in monthly community meetings.

Team Collaboration & Leadership (15%)

  • Contribute to the coordinated delivery of survivor-centered services across DASH programs.
  • Participate in care planning meetings and team case conferences.
  • Share insights, tools, and lessons learned to strengthen cross-team support.
  • Help identify team training needs and participate in DASH Academy learning opportunities.
