We are currently in search of a Youth Program Director for a specialized disability nonprofit. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Chicago, IL. This is a permanent assignment.

DURATION: Full Time

SALARY: $80,000-83,500/year

This nonprofit organization provides services to blind and visually impaired adults and adolescents in the Chicagoland area. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Youth Program Director will create and oversee a variety of innovative programs and initiatives designed to help blind and low-vision youth achieve greater independence, build confidence, develop leadership skills, and build lasting friendships. 

 

Our Ideal Candidate:

  • Bachelor’s degree, related Master’s Degree a plus
  • 5-7 years of experience in nonprofit program direction
  • 5-7 years of experience working with youth ages 12-17
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
  • Experience working with blind and low-vision youth preferred
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Desire to work in a team environment where collaboration is essential
  • Ability to work on occasional Saturdays and evenings

 

How You Will Spend Your Day:

·       Maintain and enrich existing youth programs

·       Build new and exciting programs to attract more youth and their families

·       Launch a leadership training program with a capstone project

·       Broaden youth offerings with initiatives such as a Chess Club, Debate Team, and others 

·       Consistently monitor the quality of all programs 

·       Create and manage program budgets and ensure fiscal responsibility

·       Evaluate the effectiveness of each program and make necessary adjustments

·       Build relationships with participants, their families, community leaders, and funders

·       Develop and sustain community partnerships to enhance programming

·       Recruit and manage temporary youth staff and youth volunteers 

·       Utilize benchmarking, conduct research, and employ outreach to recruit new participants and youth volunteers 

·       Ensure a safe and supportive environment for all participants

·       Ensure compliance and current best practices with all applicable state and federal laws related to working with youth 

·       Establish and implement safeguarding practices and procedures to prevent abuse and mistreatment of youth     

·       Employ annual outside professional youth compliance and protection training for all staff and volunteers 

·       Develop a Policies and Procedures Manual for Youth Programming                                

·       Provide a monthly dashboard highlighting metrics   

·       Provide narratives and required data for grant proposals

·       Provide administrative support to the Board Scholarship Committee
