Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a QA/QC Specialist to support the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP).

 

Work Location: This function will be primarily performed at vendor location of fabrication facility in Ogden, UT, and may function as a backup at other vendors within the US and Canada. Travel is required.

 

The Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is the nation’s only permanent nuclear waste repository for defense-generated transuranic (TRU) waste generated from Department of Energy (DOE) sites across the country. Waste is permanently isolated over 2,000 feet underground in deep salt beds.

 

Position Overview:

The QA/QC Specialist will support the packaging department in a QA oversight role and report to the Quality Assurance Manager.

 

Duties include:

  • Performing customer witness verification / hold points.
  • Documenting information required to a (QAIP) Quality Assurance Inspection Plan.
  • Inputting required data in logs and keeping logs updated.
  • Keeping packaging appointed representative updated daily of any issues or concerns, and communicating with fellow QA oversight counterparts, if needed.
  • Witnessing vendor QC inspection to codes and standards approved by SIMCO, including Dimensional, Fit up, Weld inspection load test, Receipt inspection, and any other items called out in the QAIP for the specific container being fabricated.

 

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years relevant experience in a nuclear environment
  • Experience performing QC and welding inspections under ASME NQA-1
  • AWS CWI (current or expired) is preferred
  • ASNT Level II in VT, MT, PT and/or UT (current or expired) is a plus
  • Experience performing NQA-1 audits at vendor sites is a plus
  • Travel is required; a current US passport is a plus
  • United States citizenship is required
