Location: Arlington, VA – Hybrid (2 days in-office)

Compensation: Up to $100,000 + excellent benefits

Are you an up-and-coming Senior Accountant ready to take the leap into a leadership role? This is an exciting opportunity to step into your first supervisory position at a mission-driven national trade association that plays a key role in a major U.S. industry. With a strong financial foundation, collaborative environment, and hybrid schedule, this role offers the perfect blend of stability, challenge, and career growth.

Our client is a nationally recognized trade association advocating for and supporting a vital sector of the American economy. With a dedicated member base and a reputation for thought leadership, they offer a collegial workplace and a flexible hybrid work model—just two days per week in the office.

The Accounting Supervisor will report directly to the Controller and oversee one accounting team member, supporting the full range of accounting functions including revenue processing, month-end close, and financial reporting. This role is ideal for someone who’s ready to take ownership, lead with confidence, and help enhance internal systems and processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise one accounting team member and provide guidance on daily operations.
  • Oversee revenue entries, cash receipts, reconciliations, and expense allocations.
  • Lead the monthly close process, including journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Support the preparation of financial statements and management reports.
  • Assist with the annual budget process, audit preparation, and ad hoc analysis.
  • Identify and implement process improvements and strengthen internal controls.
  • Collaborate with departments across the organization to ensure financial accuracy.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within a nonprofit, association, or mission-driven organization.
  • Solid knowledge of GAAP and internal controls.
  • Experience mentoring colleagues or playing informal leadership roles.
  • Strong Excel skills; familiarity with Sage Intacct is a plus.
  • A proactive mindset, strong organizational skills, and attention to detail.

Why This Role Stands Out:

  • A stepping-stone into formal leadership for an ambitious Senior Accountant.
  • Mission-driven work in a respected and stable national organization.
  • Hybrid schedule with limited in-office time.
  • Competitive compensation and benefits, with room to grow.
