Software Engineer – DevOps / Platform Discovery
Location: Washington, DC (Onsite)
Compensation: Up to 250K+ total comp (base, bonus, equity mix)
Clearance: Active Top Secret required
Interview Process: Two video interviews + onsite technical assessment (includes real-time coding)
District Partners is supporting a highly technical organization expanding its platform engineering and DevOps capability. These engineers build and maintain the automation, tooling, and infrastructure that power large-scale, distributed software systems. The work is hands-on, high-expectation, and deeply collaborative.
Candidates for this team must operate at a high engineering standard. A strong academic foundation, paired with experience in rigorous, engineering-driven environments, is important. Backgrounds that include complex systems, high-performance platforms, or technically demanding organizations typically align best.
What You’ll Do
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, CircleCI, FluxCD, and Artifactory.
• Develop infrastructure-as-code with Terraform and Ansible across AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Manage containerization and orchestration with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Build deployment workflows for real-time and batch applications, including ML/AI model delivery.
• Implement observability stacks with ELK, Prometheus, Loki, Grafana, and related tools.
• Partner with software, data, and operations teams to improve reliability, performance, and deployment speed.
• Support integration, validation, and deployment of complex systems from prototype through scale.
Required Experience
• Active Top Secret clearance.
• Strong academic and engineering foundation (Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, etc.).
• Experience working within technical environments known for high engineering rigor.
• 5+ years working with modern programming languages such as Python, Java, C++, Rust, Go, or JavaScript.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, CircleCI, FluxCD, Artifactory).
• Proficiency with Terraform and Ansible.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Strong background in Docker and Kubernetes.
• Ability to navigate complex architectures and established codebases.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality work in demanding engineering settings.
Preferred Experience
• Background in modeling, simulation, physics, math, or advanced algorithms.
• Experience with distributed or multi-agent systems.
• Familiarity with observability concepts and tooling.
• Understanding of DevOps or MLOps security best practices.
Additional Notes
• Onsite presence in Washington, DC is required.
• Client will fly finalists in for onsite interviews and offers relocation support when applicable.
