Miracle Farm is rooted in Christian faith and western heritage, our one-of-a-kind ranch helps struggling young men experience healing, earn an education, and learn respect. At the core of everything we do is Christ-centered discipleship, guiding young men to discover their identity and purpose in Jesus. Through our innovative horse program and on-site academic and vocational training, young men establish and achieve goals for a lifetime, and learn to believe in themselves as something more than society has painted them to be. About the Vice President

The Vice President for Programs and Services is an integral leader of a team dedicated to following God’s leadership by partnering with families to bring connection, healing, and restoration. This position supervises and manages employees and is responsible for planning, supervising, and managing the staff who fulfill the day-to-day programs and services of Miracle Farm.

The Vice President's responsibilities include:

Administrative management of the direct care and social services staff

  • Model and teach positive Christ-like relationships with staff that promotes campus unity.
  • Key leader in the interview process of hiring direct care and social services staff.
  • Implementation of performance appraisals for the direct care and social services staff. Write action plans and developmental goals to help supervised staff become more effective.
  • Keep accurate and complete documentation of each direct care and social services staff’s personnel file including: employee strengths, weaknesses, and responses to remedial and action plans.
  • Responsible for the actions and behaviors of direct care and social services staff in their care of residents, as well as relationships with teachers, donors, etc.
  • Responsible for the Miracle Farm employee orientation of new direct care staff members. 
  • Responsible for providing Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI®) training for all staff. 
  • Assist the President of Miracle Farm in preparing agendas and resources for all staff meetings. 
  • Teach CPR-First Aid and HIV/AIDS safety to staff on an annual basis to meet Texas Licensing Requirements and ministry training requirements.
  • Encourage and support the direct care staff, as well as, summer missionaries, interns, and volunteers through direct personal contact, counseling, timely communication, and commitment to excellence.
  • Foster an emotionally stable environment for the campus through fairness and consistency.

Administrative management of the overall residential care program

  • Responsible for a quality residential cottage life program on campus, including knowing the current emotional state of each cottage and emotional health of each boy and their needs.
  • Supervise caseworkers’ recruitment visits and provide needed documentation to administration.
  • Responsible for appropriately handling crises that may occur in the residential program.
  • Strive for no more than three days between the dismissal of one resident to the intake of another resident. Provides the supervision and encouragement of the caseworkers to maintain full capacity.
  • Responsible for assisting, mediating, and counseling staff concerning problems that arise that cannot be resolved by the houseparents.
  • Responsible for counsel directly with boys who are having difficulty in the cottage or who are having problems adjusting to the group setting.
  • Responsible for the timely assessment, interview, orientation, and placement of incoming boys.
  • Responsible for the development of an appropriate individualized Service Plan for new boys and ensuring the ongoing implementation and review of the plans-of-care.
  • Provide for the best interests of the boys and their families from intake through the completion of the plan of care, dismissal, and/or home base program.
  • Assist in the supervision and coordination of all activities, both on and off campus, and any other events or activities that directly involve the boys and staff.
  • Monitor the medical, dental, optometry, and psychological services provided to each boy.
  • Monitor the educational process of each boy, (enrollment, grades, behavior, etc.). Work with Premier High School personnel to ensure the best education possible for our boys.
  • Supervise and approve cottage travel plans and cottage trips away from the Miracle Farm campus in relation to therapeutic value and financial stewardship of monies spent.
  • Responsible for the oversight of the level adjustments for boys in relation to the Miracle Farm Playbook.

Campus Management and Reporting Responsibilities

  • Meet regularly with the Miracle Farm President to ensure the implementation of Texas Licensing Standards, and that Health Department and Fire Marshall codes are met and inspections receive outstanding reviews.
  • Ensures 24/7 administrative presence by maintaining round-the-clock availability in coordination with the Miracle Farm President. Is responsible for the required direct care coverage at all times, which includes direct care responsibilities and operation of a cottage.
  • Is available to represent Miracle Farm in public meetings and churches as needed by the Miracle Farm President.
  • In the absence of the Miracle Farm President, the Vice President of Programs and Services is responsible to the Chairman of the Miracle Farm Board for pertinent information concerning general campus operations, serious incidents, and other factors and circumstances that involve the safety and well-being of the staff and children in care.

  • Recognizes the emotional needs, family dynamics, and other personal difficulties of the other staff members and appropriately responds.

What you bring

The following describes many of the characteristics of the ideal candidate for the Vice President:

Education and Experience

  • A master’s degree in leadership, non-profit management, education, ministry related fields is highly preferred. 
  • 2 years of experience in residential child-care operation, or related field of child and family services, highly preferred.  
  • 3-5 years of experience managing people and teams.
  • Required to live in Brenham near the ranch and be available for on-call rotation basis, as needed, to respond to situations. 
  • Hold or be eligible to obtain a Licensed Child Care Administrator (LCCA) license within the first year of employment. Visit https://hhs.texas.gov for full eligibility requirements.
  • Knowledge of TBRI® practices.
  • Familiarity with agricultural, farming and ranching lifestyle.  
  • Normal office work, carry or move 100 pounds.
