Accounting Leadership Role – Insurance, Reinsurance Industry
Our client, a growing insurance-focused organization, is hiring for a pivotal accounting leadership role, reporting to senior management. This isn’t your typical accounting job—it’s a strategic position with hands-on ownership across multiple business areas and cross function influence.
This is a high impact role that offers visibility across M&A activity, strategic capacity initiates and revenue recognition. You will oversee operational and technical accounting functions for a business segment of the company, ensuring all financial information is accurate, recorded timely and in accordance with GAAP.
Responsibilities:
- Design & Scale Accounting Processes: Lead full-cycle accounting and reporting for underwriting, capacity, and technology lines.
- Manage Period End Reporting: Manage the month-end and quarter-end close process, perform variance and financial statement analysis and provide insights to senior management.
- Strategic Process Improvement: Build and enhance systems, controls, and workflows to support expansion and innovation.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work hand-in-hand with underwriting, IT, risk, and product teams to streamline finance operations.
- Performance Monitoring: Develop, track, and report KPIs tied to capacity utilization, underwriting efficiency, and technology ROI.
- Implementation & Execution: Don’t just design—you’ll roll up your sleeves, write policies, update procedures, and ensure compliance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s in accounting, CPA required
- 8+ years accounting experience, or a blend of accounting and finance, with at least 5 years in a management role (public accounting, insurance, insurance carrier, reinsurance or related sectors highly preferred)
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, revenue recognition and insurance related accounting standards
- Strong background in process design, financial controls, and KPI tracking
- Tech-savvy: advanced Excel, ERP or data system experience, and comfort with analytics
- Strategic mindset: you see the big picture and know how to make numbers work for business outcomes
- Action-oriented: ready to implement solutions and lead change
