Chief of Gastroenterology

We are seeking a highly accomplished and visionary physician leader to serve as our Chief of Gastroenterology. Position Summary: The Chief of Gastroenterology will be responsible for the overall strategic direction, operational management, and academic leadership of the Division of Gastroenterology. This includes overseeing clinical operations, research initiatives, educational programs, and faculty development. The successful candidate will be a nationally recognized expert in gastroenterology, possess exceptional leadership and communication skills, and demonstrate a commitment to patient-centered care and academic excellence.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive strategic plan for the Division of Gastroenterology that aligns with the overall mission and vision. Identify opportunities for growth, program development, and enhanced patient care.
  • Clinical Excellence: Ensure the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based, and compassionate gastroenterological care across all clinical settings (inpatient, outpatient, endoscopy suites). Monitor and improve clinical outcomes, patient satisfaction, and operational efficiency.
  • Faculty Development & Recruitment: Recruit, mentor, and retain outstanding faculty members. Foster a collaborative and supportive environment that promotes professional growth, academic productivity, and career advancement.
  • Research & Innovation: Promote and support robust clinical, translational, and basic science research within the division. Encourage grant submissions, publications, and participation in national and international conferences. Drive the adoption of innovative technologies and treatment modalities.
  • Education: Oversee and enhance medical student, resident, and fellowship training programs in gastroenterology. Ensure the delivery of high-quality didactic and clinical education.
  • Financial Management: Manage the divisional budget effectively, ensuring fiscal responsibility and optimal resource allocation.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Foster strong collaborative relationships with other departments and divisions within health system and external partners to ensure integrated and comprehensive patient care.
  • Quality & Safety: Champion a culture of continuous quality improvement and patient safety within the division.
  • Represent the Division: Serve as the primary representative of the Division of Gastroenterology within the institution and at national/international professional organizations.


Qualifications:

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Current NJ License, including DEA/CDS, or willing to obtain
  • Board Certification in Gastroenterology.
  • Demonstrated record of progressive leadership experience in an academic or complex healthcare setting.
  • Nationally recognized clinical expertise and scholarly achievements in Gastroenterology.
  • Strong record of research productivity and/or successful program development.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to build and lead high-performing teams.
