Position Summary:
The Nurse Manager is a key clinical leader responsible for overseeing daily nursing operations, ensuring high standards of patient care, and supporting clinical staff within a community-focused care setting. This role combines administrative leadership with hands-on support, making it ideal for a compassionate, organized, and collaborative nursing professional who is committed to healthcare access and equity.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Supervision:
- Lead, mentor, and supervise nursing and clinical support staff (RNs, LPNs, MAs)
- Coordinate staffing schedules and ensure adequate coverage across shifts
- Support onboarding, training, and ongoing professional development of nursing staff
- Foster a positive, team-based culture that values respect, accountability, and inclusivity
Clinical Oversight:
- Ensure consistent delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered care
- Monitor clinical workflows and support adherence to nursing protocols and regulatory requirements
- Participate in case reviews and collaborate with providers on care planning, particularly for complex cases
- Respond to urgent patient care needs and serve as an escalation point for clinical issues
Operational & Quality Improvement:
- Monitor key performance indicators and implement strategies to improve clinical efficiency and patient outcomes
- Oversee inventory management of medications, vaccines, and medical supplies
- Ensure compliance with infection control, documentation, and reporting standards
- Lead and participate in quality improvement, safety, and accreditation initiatives
Community Engagement & Patient Advocacy:
- Help design and implement initiatives that address health disparities and improve access to care
- Build relationships with patients, families, and community partners to support holistic care delivery
- Champion trauma-informed, culturally responsive nursing practices
Qualifications:
- Current RN license in Maryland
- Minimum 3–5 years of clinical nursing experience
- BLS certification required; ACLS and/or PALS preferred
- Experience working in community health, safety-net clinics, or underserved settings highly preferred
- Bilingual or multilingual skills a strong plus
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
